Gestational Diabetes - Higher the 2nd time around?

Where did you get those numbers? They are WAY high from what I was told.

Those are the cut offs for the 3-hr glucose tolerance test from my doctor. I would think the numbers can also vary a little based on how conservative your doctor is. Our goals on a daily basis are no where near that, I was told under 100 fasting, under 120 at 2 hrs post meal.

I was told that yes, for regular diabetic patients the goals are 100 fasting and 120 2hrs postprandial. However in pregnancy they want our levels as close to a non-diabetic pregnant woman's levels as possible, and in a non-diabetic pregnant woman the levels are usually lower than outside pregnancy, because more insulin is being produced. So in a non-diabetic woman BS would be in the 70-s in the morning and not higher than 120-130 at all times, even immediately after meals. Actually, now my endo wants me to have my fastings below 80, haha. No way I will reach it even with metformin.

Wow! Those numbers are VERY strict! My goals last pregnancy and this pregnancy were both the same... I never had any GD related problem and have a healthy daughter. I don't think any amount of medication would ever bring me down to 70 in the morning lol.

Mine have been in the 80s and the MFM is perfectly happy with that. If they get above 100s for 3 days in a row she will up my insulin.
