I'm 33/34 weeks now and my results came back as high on the first test so I'm being sent again...

How do they go about controlling this with diet and exercise?

How do they decide if they want to control it via diet and exercise or insulin? Do I try diet and exercise first?

Yeah I think they try diet first, and then if that doesn't work they will try insulin.

When I was first diagnosed they sent me to a dietician who looked at my current diet and told me what changes I needed to make. If I am sensible with what I eat then my sigar levels stay on target. I've been controlling my GD with diet since 14 weeks.

The midwife rung me about an hour ago, before the GTT my blood sugar was 4.8 but after it was 8.6, over the threshold of 7.8:cry: Got to go to the hospital tomorrow to talk about it im so scared....Im terrified to eat!!

They will give you a glucometer to check your sugar levels at home, and if diet and exercise alone is not enough then they can either put you on oral medication and/or insulin injections. It's really not a huge thing to upset over as long as you do what the dr says...there is really little reason to worry nowadays with gestational diabetes as long as you are being monitored by a dr. I was diagnosed at 9 weeks and have been insulin dependant since 11 weeks.
