Hi,
I have just recieved a phone call informing me i have gestational iabetes at 28+3. I have an appointment tomorrow with the diabetic clinic tomorrow but i am feeling a bit worried about it. Do you normally get induced early with GD? What sorts of things will i have to do from now on? What will happen at the appointment tomorrow the woman on the phone said it would be a 1 hour appointment? I'm then booked in for a 2hr appointment at anetenatal next wednesday for a scan but not sure what else thats for?

Thanks for any help.

Emma. xx

Hi emma, I've had it from 10&3. On mobile at mo but post your query below on the GD support Thread as
It's brillant. Don't worry xx

Hi,

I was diagnosed with GD during my pregnancy. My doctors do induce if you do not naturally go into labor by your due date. I was scheduled for an induction on my due date, but I went into labor 3 days before.

Generally at your appointment, they will counsel you on proper nutrition and diet. There is a special diet that women with GD can follow during pregnancy. I also had to get growth scans to check on baby's size because GD babies tend to be on the big side and I had to get NSTs (non-stress tests) done.

My LO was completely healthy with no complications from the GD.

I've recently been diagnosed as well but i haven't seen my MW yet since getting the results back. I go Tuesday and hope too get answers to the same questions you have! Where are you located? I've noticed that different areas and countries treat pretty much everything different lol
