Gestational Diabetes

Hi,

Lately I have been having really bad headaches and feeling very hot. I have just recently been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and thought maybe it was from high blood sugar levels?
 
Hi hun, I'm not sure if these are symptoms of GD - have you been keeping track of your BS levels? xxxx
 
It could be if your having a hypo as well. I'm a type 1 diabetic and when i'm low i get very hot and feel very strange. Are you checking your sugars on a regular basis hun?

Hi everyone thanks for the tips. I have an appointment on Tuesday to get a blood monitor, so hopefuly that will clear a few things up. Would be very unlucky if I had to start on insulin with less then five weeks to go.

They might first tell you to change your diet, like cut out certain things first, I got diagnosed on tuesday and on thursday i had an appointment at the diabetes clinic, they gave me a blood sugar monitor and showed me how to use it, and a little book where you record your levels before meals and after meals. I've got a scan on tuesday and they said if my change in diet doesn't improve then i will have to go on insulin, so we are kind of in the same boat! good luck on tuesday x
 
It could also be that you're not drinking enough if you are getting headaches, especially with the weather being so hot lately. Try having a few more glasses of water to see if that helps as well :)
 
I also have GD which I've had since 17 weeks pregnant. When my sugars are low I get really bad sweating and when my sugars were high before going on insulin I had headaches. Hope it all works out. xx
