K I know we're supposed to gain weight, but I'm only 14 weeks and already gained 22 lbs :(. I used to go to the gym 3 times a week with a personal trainer, until July. I went away for the summer, then got pg right away and was too sick and exhausted to drag my butt to the gym. So how can I gain that much that fast? I eat pretty well. I been thinking bout going back to the gym next week now that I'm feeling better but I was reading that it's ok to gain muscle while of, but to lose fat isn't healthy. When u burn fat ir releases a chemical that is dangerous for the baby! Has anyone else heard of this? I'm not saying I want to lose a bunch of weight, I just want to get healthy and not get too big.

:hugs: Aww hang in there! While it can be shocking to see the scale creep up so quickly, remember everyone is different and it could very well be a lot of water weight you are retaining which will come off very quickly after you deliver. And the sad reality is the older we get the easier it seems to creep up. I was so bummed as I gained a lot in my first tri but between 12w and now and I have only gained 1lb so I think it will even itself out for you.

As long as your doc isn't concerned try and relax about it- stressing will only add to it. :hugs:

Did u gain as much as me though? I know some of it is water, my feet keep swelling. But u see the fat in my waist, legs, and arms. I'm kinda depressed about it. I thought I'd look ok this time since I was at a normal, heathy weight 14 weeks ago!

No, so far I have gained 11lbs total - and the weird thing about it is that it was all in the first tri. I have these 'floating 5 lbs' as I call it as somedays my feet and ankles are SO swollen and I can feel the water retention and I step on the scale and I'm 5 lbs heavier - then a few days later the swelling is gone and I get on the scale and I'm 5 lbs lighter. These 5 lbs have been playing 'tag' with my body it seems for the last 2 months, it's the weirdest thing. I'm trying to not get hung up on the numbers so long as I know I'm eating within reason and that I don't have any danger signs of anything. Sure it's so super uncomfortable to carry around the extra weight and I tire so incredibly easy these days.

I've noticed I'm much much heavier in the boobs, waist, and thighs have taken a hit but I've just decided I'll re-evaluate everything a few months post-partum as there's no sense stressing about that now. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit depressed over it as well but there's only so much we can control about what happens to our bodies.

For sure I'm going to give'er shot after I have the baby, and get back in shape. I just feel so gross now, i weigh more now then i did when I delivered my 1st! I'm thinking a big part of it is I turned 40 this week, it's been. A hard pill to swollow. There's alot if stress in my life right now, I know I'm feeling sorry for myself too a bit. I just want to do something to feel better I guess.

I gained about 4.5lbs in the first tri but since then haven't gained an ounce, Oddly been more sick this tri than the first. To be honest feeling like I do now...tired, sick and breathless I think I'd rather be fat!!!

Suzi, lol good point! But, I'm still feeling sick too, just not as bad as I was. I hope I don't gain much more!

Hey try not to worry about it - I only weighed myself for the first time yesterday and I've gained about 30lbs and I have 7 weeks to go, I do have fluid retention and I'm not going to worry about it - which believe me is hard as I used to be a bigger person but started of this pregnancy at my ideal side. Feel like im slipping back but its all for the greater good.

:hugs:
