I was scared too, very scared because the 1st (epidural) birth went wrong. Is this your first your baby?

When it's your first especially, you just have to give yourself permission that you're taking on a responsibility that you've never done before. Give yourself permission to make mistakes and to not always know the answers. You'll do things wrong, and that's okay - they're made of rubber anyways :haha:

RE: labour
Tell yourself you will do it. I just didn't give myself a choice. Remind yourself of WHY you have chosen natural, and how much better your recovery will be if you do so (and having had both, it certainly was easier after!).

I don't think there is any woman that has not been scared at some point.
At the end of the day as long as the baby and I are well and safe then in my mind i will be happy.
I would love a natural birth but i also don't want to be disappointed in myself that if i get to the stage where i need an epidural i feel like i have failed. If having an epidural then helps me achieve a natural birth then i would be very happy.

I am very open as especially with not having been in labor before i will just see how it goes and let the midwife advise me. As i said i am very keen for a natural birth, but dont have set ideas on exactly how it will happen.

I was absolutely terrified going into labor with my son. At my last doc appt i discussed making sure i had an epidural ready to go because i totally psyched myself out and didnt think i could possibly do it naturally and drug free. I got to the hospital at 4cm and after four hours of increasingly painful contractions i was at 10cm and ready to push....i had just got out of the shower to ask for my epidural because the pain was so bad..they checked me and told me i couldnt have one cause i was too far along and ready to go. I thought to muself this cant be happening i cant do it. A half hour later (15min waiting for the doc and 15min of pushing) out came my son. I couldnt believe that i did it!! The harder you push the less painful it is (i didnt believe them when they told me but its true!) Its so empowering. I am so happy that i was able to do it without complications that forced an epidural, i am also shocked that i can handle that kind of pain without screaming for drugs. Its empowering. Everyone and every birth is different but one thing thats exactly the same is the fear before and during labor. .message me if you need to talk or if you have questions id be glad to help in any way

You can do it!
I know it's scary, honestly I'd think it was odd if a woman wasn't scared or nervous about labour and becoming a mum.
Labour is completely unknown the first time. But you can do it. Do as much research as possible so you understand what your body is trying to do and also what all your options are.
Practice relaxation techniques etc.

And becoming a mum is the biggest change you will ever go through. But I promise again that you can do it. Being nervous about it means you want to do a good job and so you'll figure it out. Honestly you will. Trust your instincts. Because nobody will know you're baby the way you do
