Getting sick.

My throat has been bothering me for the past week -- one of my tonsils is swollen, so I'm not sure if it's just my tonsils bugging out, or I'm getting sick. If I get sick, will my baby end up getting sick too since I breastfeed? He's a preemie who just came home not too long ago, and I really, really don't want him to get sick.

If he gets sick, I don't think it would be from your breastmilk. I know the midwife told me not to worry if I got sick that baby would probably be ok. I don't know if it's different because your lo was a preemie. You might want to call the doctor just to be sure, or ask on the preemie board.

When you get sick, there are actually helpful antibodies that go through your breastmilk that can help your LO to get better fast, or even avoid the illness altogether.
