Does any one know of a private clinic that will do these tests?

I want to be tested for all the clotting disorders and natural killer cells. I am willing to pay, but not sure where to start looking.

I am in buckinghamshire but willing to travel.

Thank you :flower:

Hun, i'll let you know how I get on on fri.... I'll insist on it... Dilek was on steroids not sure why and MrsJD had NK cells (and was on steroids) but I think she went on a clinical trial....i'll check with her.... XXXX I've got one more go and I'm determined t go on steroids for 4weeks prior to transfer! Xxx
P.s My clinic routinely gives babyaspirin from EC ....

Apparently some clinics will give prednisolone and asprin after failed cycles to cover all eventualities. It makes me mad that oxford are saying they don't see a reason to test.

Thats very interesting about the baby asprin. Do you know how long they'd keep you on it in pregnancy? I may just buy some from a chemist and take it on my own accord. I know it should be under doctors guidance, but it is only baby asprin!

Oxford definately won't prescribe me prednisolone though, so I either pay to get tested, or go to a clinic who will give it to me.

I think MrsJD went to the clinic in Liverpool for testing. But i think they only invite you on the trial if you have had 3 m/c's or more. I think its good to eliminate thing but you could be going down the wrong track. I've had 1 m/c, 1 chemical, 1 live birth, another early m/c, an ectopic and so far all is good with my ivf pregnancy. Keep trying keep strong and you will get there :hugs:

I too would be interested in this as I would be prepared to pay to have tests like this especially as I don't want to have IVF just the tests. I've had two chemicals and am interested to know if there is anything else going on. I would also be interested in immunology tests as well especially as I have / had M.E. which can be caused by the immune system being overactive and attacking the body causing the symptoms of M.E. Would be grateful to anyone who can help please

There’s a good thread on this on the fertility friends forum
This is what I found out:
Care in Nottingham,
FGA wimpole street London
ARGC London and Lister (recently) all do immunity testing
But I think only FGA do it if you’re not having a cycle with them… Care won’t do it unless you are a client, but you can always say you will be….:-)
There is some book on this by Dr,. Beer ( If I remember correctly)
Apparently there are two levels of investigation and this is what Level one is – if your GP is willing to do it you may do it on NHS…
list of level 1 tests:

1. Full blood count, liver function tests, Urea and Electrolytes
2. Thyroid function tests (both free T4 and TSH)
3. Immunoglobulin panel (IgG, IgA and IgM)
4. Autoimmune antibodies (must include anti-nuclear antibodies),
thyroid peroxidase and anti-mitochondrial antibodies)
5. Anticardiolipin antibodies (both IgG and IgM)
6. Thrombophilia (must include lupus anticoagualant, Factor V Leiden
and Prothrombin gene mutation)

I’ll insist on a treatment with Prednisolone, Clexane, baby aspirin from ET this Friday….just in case hope she agrees… the meds are not that expensive.
If pg and have been taking Baby Aspirin you continue until month 3- this is what I was told….I had to stop it when I got the BFN.
Please keep this thread going with any info you may find….

Hi
I found this post from applegirl last year
repeat miscarriages? dr quenby's trial - liverpool, UK
Hello ladies,

I wanted to let you know about a trial I have joined. It is for women who have had 3 or more miscarriages. It is trying to find out if giving prendnisolone (a steroid drug) can help women with high natural killer cells prevent miscarriages.

The link between high NKcells and increased risk of miscarriage has already been proven. I've already been in for my screening, and I was found to have borderline high numbers of the cells. In order to do the test, they need to take a biopsy of your womb. This feels like having an IUD/coil inserted - and some women find it quite painful, while others don't mind. I did think it hurt - but it was worth it.

The next step is waiting for your results, takes about 3-4 weeks. If your levels are high they will ask you to let them know when you get a . You then go in to the hospital, and get 'randomised' to receive either the drug or the placebo. The drug is the steroid, and the placebo is just a fake pill.

SO - that is the thing. Dr. Quenby is not 100% sure that the drug will work, although she has had some promising results in an earlier study, where the drug reduced miscarriages by about a 1/3rd. But because the drug is not yet proven, this trial is to prove it works. That is why you have a 50/50 chance of getting the drug or the fake pill to take. She needs to compare women with high NK cells who took the drug to those who did not. See this link: https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4103884.stm

I know it might not seem fair that you can't be guaranteed the drugs - but if you do miscarry - you are welcome to come back to the clinic with your next and then you will be given the drugs - 100% for sure.

I guess for me I thought it was worth a try - worth getting tested even if it means that it is one more potential cause I could rule out. And worth trying with the pills - in case it works.

Wanted to let you know. If you wanted to make an appointment to get screened you can call Dr. Quenby's secretary Diane on: 0151 702 4271

Oh - and you also get good care and frequent scans on the trial - that is a real bonus I thought.... and Dr. Quenby is nice and friendly. She will take you seriously - which is good. I'm tired of drs treating me like this is nothing.

Sorry i think the above is out of date just found this

Hi ladies just a quick update. As most of you know Siobhan Quenby has left the womens now. To be referred to this trial now your gp/consultant must do a direct referral to Siobhan Quenby at Birmingham Heartlands hospital. You will be seen there for your appointment as the Liverpool trial is now full.It is a one off visit to there so not too bad.

I spoke to the womans hospital on harley street and they won'r test as an outpatient, and said I'd have to get a GP referral to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, but I haven't had repeated miscarriages! Now you'd thing if anywhere would test, they would. I thought you could get anything on Harley Street!!

brumbar, what clinic are you at? Have you asked them about having prednisolone etc? My clinic definately won't give it to me :growlmad: They are currently doing research in to natural killer cells (always want to write natural born killer cells)!! :haha:

I just wanna go somewhere, pay, and be tested!

FGA can test you hun! Call them.
I'm at create and have not spoken about it yet . Going tomorrow, but I'm changing clinics if they say no. as simple as that! I'm paying for it and I want it.... If it goes against their views ill do it somewhere else.
