So DH and I think we want to get tested to see if something is officially wrong with us. What exactly are the tests they will perform and can we go to a regular OBGYN to get the tests done? I'm in the US.
The beginning of testing is very non invasive but nerve wracking non the less.
Here in Australia, you usually go to a normal GP doctor. They will want to do a progesterone test one you (a blood test usually done on CD 21 to see if you're ovulating) and they will want to do semen analyasis done on DH. If either or both of the tests don't look good then they will want to test at least one more time.
If again the tests come back with low PG levels or low sperm count/motility etc you will then need to get a referall to see a fertility specialist.
Depending on what the tests show the FS will want to investigate things further and may want to do things such as pelvic ultra sounds or x-rays, surgery such as laparaoscopy etc.
What they're trying to do is pin point the problem so that they can give you the best chance on treatment.
So first things first, make the appt with the GP and do the non invases blood and SA tests and go from there.
Heya hun, second what FJL said for my experience too, the first step is relatively easy re bloods and semen analysis, then referral to fertility consultant / specialist for further testing.
