Second question of the day

Is anybody doing gifts for the children that come to their wedding, like party bags? With a few crayons and whatnot to keep them amused?

Id not thought of it before but i seem to see them a lot on wedding "shop" sites.

I think its a great idea, is anyone else doing it and are you buying them pre made or making them yourself?

They are a great idea if we have kids at ours we'll prob make our own kits.
Holly what made you decide to have kids did you have tough time deciding, we'd love to have kids at the wedding because the venue has acres of gorgeous big gardens and would love to see them all having fun and running around playing together. Thing is if they're under 10 for basic kids menu like chicken and chips and sausage and mash etc they charge £20 and if they're over 10 its full price so £50! Don't quite know what to do there. xx

I did this for mine, we gave each little one a bag of chunky crayons, colouring books, chocolate eggs (got married at Easter), toy cars for boys, princess crown and plastic jewellery for girls, stickers, lolly pop, Disney pen and a crazy straw.

The older ones got lockable diaries (for girls), quiz books, stationary and chocolate :)

We wrapped them in celophane and put ribbon all over them. The hotel put them at the tables for them.

Was just going to say, we didn't order any kids meals as parents insisted they eat off of their plates and 2 of my friends brought along snacks. They seemed content with the copious amount of chocolate, juice and cake (oddly) :winkwink: We were quite happy to pay but people insisted not to bother.

Katie, our wedding is pretty informal so cost wise it doesnt make much difference if we have children there or not, we have a lot of children in our family so would laways have to accomodate them one way or another, i think we have around 12, under 13's in the immediate family :hissy:

A friend of mine is getting married with a similar dilemma about food costs and she is having bridesmaids only during the daytime and sit down meal and then children can come to the evening.

I thought a little something to keep them amused was quite a nice idea!!

I'm going to be doing them - we will have 15 kids under the age of 12...10 of them under 5...eek!! My SIL made up shoeboxes with lots of little gifts in them tailored towards each specific child (we are a pretty close family so know who is loving Macca Pacca and who is not!) They kept the little ones quiet all through the meal (and some grownups!)

We have a few colouring bits, stickers and fiddly bits for a three year old and have bought an ELC shape sorter for the 8 months old coming. :) xx

we have alot of children at our wedding and considering doing little goodie bags to keep them quiet during the meal etc as it is a long time for them, i'd make them ourselves we we do decide to go that way

We are even having musical instruments for the children during the songs at the church service lol

I am making little bags for the children at the reception. There will only be 3 (including Cormack) all about his age! So its not too tricky!!

Since our reception is at home we are having a babysitter for the evening and 3 travel cots on the top floor for sleeping. So all the Mummies and Daddies get to have fun too!

I think OHs side of the family has about 16 children (all his nephews and nieces) so we will be doing little packs for them with crayons, books, colouring books, cards for the older ones, some sweets/chocolate. Anything to keep them entertained!

xXx

Have you seen these?

They're a good idea, but pretty pricey. BUT I think that you could easily use the idea and DIY it.. I'm planning on doing something similar for ours.
eg Picture of a cake to 'decorate', dress up dolls with wedding outfits, draw the party buffet, wedding bingo (bingo with things you see/hear at a wedding, see/hear it, and you get to tick it off).

We made up presents for the kids at our wedding. We went to hawkins bazzaar and bought loads of stuff then just put them in shoeboxes covered in wrapping paper. When the starters came out we gave out the boxes as the kids didn't need a 3 course meal they just had mains and desert and a ridiculous amount of mocktails for the toasts etc.
