My ex wants my account number so he can set up a standing order to put the maintenance money into each month. Is this a good idea? Will he have access to my money or account info if I give him this? Also, will it affect my benefits if they can see the money going in, i would have to declare it?

No i don't think he will have access to it. I set up an account for my LO and FOB puts money in that for her. That might be a better idea. I don't think it will affect your benefits depending on how much he gives you. You do have to declare it :)

he will need account number & sort code & he won't have any access to your bank/money with just those details. Yes you do have to declare it hun & make sure you do, cos if they find out you could have quite a hefft fine on your hands. Not too sure how it affects your benefits but i know they deduct something, not sure of the amount though hun x

No he won't be able to do anything with ur account. I would declare the money but no it doesn't effect ur benefits, as of april 2010 maintenance doesn't affect any benefits. xx

Just to confirm what these ladies said - he def won't have access to you account if you give him your sort code and account number. I used to work in a bank. xx

It wont affect your benefits, you still have to declare it to them, just to let them no, but when i was on benefits i still got my maintanence and my full IS. It changed last April or so, just make sure you declare it and it will be fine.

He won't get access to your account and you have to declare maintenence, but it won't affect your benefits.
