Hiya,
I am 21 weeks and I went to the hospital today to have a rountine appointment with a doctor, to see about my thyroid levels, they asked me to wee on a stick, and they found traces of glucose in it.
What does they mean?
The doctor just said they would arrange for a glucose test, and then told me to go back to the waiting room to see, the nurse who would take my blood.
When I saw the nurse, she said she had arranged 3 extra scans for me, and then to go back to the woman health clinic as soon as they had done my scan, as they would be expecting me...... What will they do??
I did kind of feel the were ushering me around, as they were running really late, So I did try asking questions, but didnt get very far.
Is the glucose test something to be worried about, and the glucose in my wee?? Can it lead to diabetes?? Do I need to change what I eat or drink??
Will the hospital send me a letter or anything, as they didnt ask me to book another appointment, but the doctor said I will need a glucose test, will that just come in the post? he only wrote that on my notes, not on a computer system or anything........ Or do I have to wait until I am 28 weeks? for the midwife to test?
is it worth ringing the hospital, or midwife?
Sorry for all the questions, I am just a bit worried, and as its my first baby I dont know what to expect or how things work etc
