What is nasty to me is the fact that a doctor wants you to chug 50g of sugar in one sitting. At no other point in my life would I consider that a lovely decision. The test isn't terrible, it's just I choose not to undergo something unnecessary when I can monitor my sugar in a healthy way. Of course to each their own.Since week 15 I've been checking my sugar first thing in am before eating and about an hour after eating dinner at night. I'd much rather monitor my own numbers and prevent things than take a nasty test to "catch" it. Being proactive is healthier and as long as my numbers are good, I'm refusing the glucose test on that principle alone. What are they gonna do, argue with me? I'm keeping a journal of the numbers for them. Ladies, stay proactive about your health! You decide how healthy you and baby are, not the doctor
That's my point, the test is fine. For any ladies who are due to have it and are reading this thread please don't panic it's not that big of a deal, even if it is the three hour version of the test. Yes you drink a drink that may not be to everyone's taste but it's not foul and the waiting is fine if you take a book or magazine with you. I think we're blowing this a bit out of proportion, it really isn't that big an ordeal. X
