I like to keep myself on my toes!!

I've been giving Hebe a bottle of EBM after her bath for ages now. It started as a break from the constant cluster feeding from 5pm till midnight. Then she started to go to bed straight after it which was fine but then we started to wean.....and she dropped more milk..... So the last BF I would give would be 3.30pm ish. I got slack with pumping and went from pumping 9oz in 1 sitting to 4 max. It took 2 days to get enough for her 8pm feed together so it was alternated with formula. I was happy as it's follow on formula and the extra added iron wouldnt go a miss anyway.

But as my return to work looms large and I cant put off adding a lunch time 'meal' forever, I have decided to rearrange things. I'm going to go back to a direct BF after bath before bed. When I go to work I'm gonna have to send her with a bottle for some point during the day and I guess she'll probably need to be eating lunch too by then So I'm regressing so that when I return and my stock of frozen BM is gone (which wont be long as I donated most of it :dooh: ) I can give formula for nursery and I can BF first and last thing.

Tonight she had both boobs ( I havent BF at that time for months) and then 6oz of formula - I am really pleased as she takes about 11-13 oz usually so tha means I've manged over half that feed. As time goes by that should get better.

I'm mental - It's official.

Your supply may feel like it's not as "full on" as it used to be coz Hebe's on solids now. I used to fill a bottle expressing and then it would dwindle at about 6months as well to be honest. It happened with Lauren, Abi and Toby

You know that giving formula will mean you won't make as much milk so dropping the formula and feeding Hebe yourself as well as carrying on with expressing is the only way to get your supply up again. I know you know these things so sorry if I sound patronising

Dont be daft! I listen to you - you are my guru I will have got back to no formula within a week - I'm very stubborn when I want to be!

I just thought I'd update you after my post last saturday saying I was ditching the EBM/formula feed before bed in preparation for the next stage of weaning and my return to work.

I said I'd have done it in a week and guess what......I have done it a day early!!

It just confirms my belief that a huge part of BFing is confidence and mindset. I knew I could do it. I wont say I never doubted it for a second because I did wonder if I was setting myself up for a fall BUT here we are.....SUCCESS!!!! Back you boobies girls!!!
