First post on here so a little nervous... but I feel like im going crazy and nobody understands.

Hubby and I have been TTC #1 for around 2 years (very laid back approach to start). we've had 2 fertility appointments...

Semen Analysis came back fine. had bloods done and waiting on HSG. found out my prolactin is high (but i am ovulating?) so being referred to a endocrinologist... its all so confusing and we're constantly waiting for the next appointment, referall, test....

everybody I talk to has some crappy bit of advice like 'it will happen when its supposed too' 'maybe you're not ready for baby' 'just relax' 'just have sex all of the time' (no... really???? i didnt realise thats how you made a baby...)

Not sure what I'm looking for here, maybe just a rant space, reassurance or success stories...

I hate advice from well meaning people but who have maybe never experienced the pain of unsuccessfully trying for baby for years. If there is a problem with your fertility (and Im not saying there is) no amount of relaxing will make it happen. But I would say try and stay as stress free as poss, which is difficult, but for your own sanity. It took us 4 years from the time we decided to ttc to actually getting DS in our arms. I did also have 2 mc along the way. If you do have a diagnosis then in many situations you can be helped and there are plenty of options. Just never give up hope that you will get your little bundle. I hope you get a sticky bean soon!

thanks for the message and kind words, gives me hope!
Trying to keep stress free because i know it wont help but tend to have at least a couple of breakdown days every so often!!

It took us around 2 and a half years to fall pregnant this time. I did all the standard tests and was ovulating but had high prolactin for one of the tests.

Have you been told anything about prolactin? I was told it works to inhibit ovulation (ie breastfeeding mothers have high levels hence no period or pregnancy normally).
I was told prolactin levels can be high for a test for loads of reasons and not to worry - even as simple as an ill fitting bra! I was told if I was ovulating it's likely not an issue and will be back to normal soon
Mine was back to normal next tests- are yours consistently high?

For us the HSG I think was the key. We fell pregnant naturally around 5 months after it.

You sound like you have a really positive attitude and I'm sure it'll happen soon. I also hate all the rubbish about 'just relax' or 'get drunk, loads of women fall pregnant after a drunken night out'.

It's just horrible going from appointment to appointment with no luck or idea of what the plan is.

Good luck - push for your HSG soon!

Wow - Thank you! sounds like what Im going through. Only had the one test so not sure if Prolactin is always high... but it has been on my mind so thank you for that!

HSG this week so hoping for something positive soon!!!

:hugs:

I can totally relate to how you feel.. although we have only been trying for a very short time ... it’s been a long 6.5 years just to be able to get to this stage and i honestly don’t know how it hasn’t destroyed me. It’s so hard and frustrating to hear people saying all the usual crap: “it will happen if you just relax”, “you are still young, don’t worry” and the worst one of all is just when people say “I understand how you are feeling” with their baby they already have who just happened by chance and accidentally... a baby they got without even planning for...it makes me feel so angry when people get pregnant and have a family without even trying or wanting it... I find it so hard to be around pregnant people... and just babies and children in general as I just want to break down.... no one “gets it” ... not even my OH....
