This is my favourite bit!:

"It could be worse."

"At least it's not cancer."

"Having children is a lifestyle choice. You just need to pick a different lifestyle."

Comments like these are painful because they invalidate our feelings. They imply our reaction is an overreaction."

That sums up so well why I would fly off the handle when people made stupid comments, including, "it will all be fine" or "you've got to keep positive".

This website is good too; I sent the link to a few people

Oh my goodness, "think positive" has driven me insane this week. Sorry, but I will feel positive when I am good and ready. CD1 is not good and ready lol

Chicken soup that was a great website, I spent a bit of time on it especially the one on who to tell. I'd been struggling with this for a while but the article helped me decide.

Thank you.

heres_hoping I know what you mean magic thoughts don't exist!

I guess the requirement would be that one has friends.
I don't fit in with youngsters anymore (people I'm in school with, 18-24) nor with other youngish married couples who are starting a family the normal way.

That is brilliant, nearly made me cry reading it as it is all so true, my brother told me they are expecting their second child yesterday, i went on a downward spiral of emotion of hurt/pain/jealousy etc. Spoke to a friend about it who, in her wisdom decided to say 'well, when you are pregnant, you'll look back and think oh dear' to how you reacted. Oh dear?! Seriously!? Just felt like screaming at her

I definataly think you can't understand it until you've been there but that's no excuse for the things some people say!
