I had my little boy 4 weeks ago, my blood loss was normal and pretty light i have now stopped loosing blood its more the brown stuff but its really gooy, is this normal, maybe worth saying i had to be cut amf had a third degree tear

I had a third degree year, no episiotomy. My blood has stopped now getting orangish brownish discharge. I believe it's normal. I don't think anything too be worried about

Thanks, also hope u don't mind me asking, how did u find your tear? Did it hurt your bum when u poo? 4 week later it feels like there's something sharp stabbing my bum on its way out. Also find i can hold poo to a extent, as soon as i really need to go, i really do need to go as i cant physically hold it any longer. I know that's what can happen after a 3rd degree tear and i was told it could be like that forever but could this just be while the stitches heal properly or was you the same? Did u go to physio. Sorry for the 21 questions i should have done a post regarding 3rd degree tear too but there already is one lol x

Well it's been 2 weeks since I have birth so it's still healing for me. The first couple days after birth I would pass gas and couldn't hold them back which was embarrassing. Still today if I walk around I pass gas by accident which would never happen before. I take stool softeners so it doesn't hurt as much. But it's kinda painful still and feels very heavy when I use the bathroom. I sure hope it goes away. I haven't done physio I didn't even know that was an option?! No doctor suggested it even! Maybe if it doesn't heal after 6 weeks I will suggest it but what will physio do for me? Stregthen my pelvic floor? I do kegels and slowly exercise everyday so that might help it out. It still painful when I walk around lots very heavy feeling and the pelvic bones seem sore. I had a small baby 6 pounds. So it still amazes me why I had such a bad tear.

In the hospital i was the same with the wind, i asked a mw and she told me totally normal and may or may not stop. Like i say im still not 100% on holding poo in, i was told at the hosp it will be helped by physio as they help build the muscles back that was lost in the tear.
i have a app at the hosp in 8 week, it says for examinations. I dread to think what they are gonna do, oh keeps joking that they are gonna put a camera up my bum to see. But the more i think about it the more it males sense if they was to -_- x

Lol what's the examination for? I have a six week appointment but I think that's fairly normal with everyone. Do I need a special appointment for a 3rd degree tear? Lol

See who do u have your 6 week check with? Ive heard about these but ive not been told any thing :s
and ohh u don't know what the examination is for, in pretty scared tbh. On the letter it said 'if the consultor decides you need surgery...' in like. What?!!? Asif labour theater and recovery weren't bad enough, what could i possibly need surgery for lol x

I think the 6 week appointment is too see how your doing and the baby is doing. Nothing special lol. And do they think ppl with 3rd degree tears need surgery? Is that why u got a letter in the mail? No one even mentioned that too me

Ive just spoke to a friend who said her friend had a 3rd degree tear and she needed a op to fix the stitches as they were t done properly the first time, this may be why i have to go to the hospital.
in the first week of me being home i got a letter saying i will be given a app when i am 12 week post natal i then got a letter last week with the appointment, maybe its just the hospital i was at i don't know??

so the 6 week check is with your gp? Is this usually the same time as your babies 6 week check?x

Ya my six week check up is with the gyno then I have an 8 week check up with my gp. I noticed with my stitching I have this skin flap/tag sticking out lol. It probably can be cut/frozen off. It's annoying though! Did you tear towards your bum? Lol I forget what it's called perineam? I felt it yesterday and it feels hard. Probably scar tissue my husband says. Blah the things we go through lol

Perineum, is that your 'gooch' the bit in between your vagina and bum? I was cut there, all the way down, i tore inside my bum (3rd degree tear) so i was stitched right down my Gooch and inside my bum hole (nice) on my 'gooch' the scar is pretty neat, u can see that one side kinda over laps the other, but no prob, i have a small lump and speaking to my nana she tore there too and had a lump she was told its where they knotted the stitches xx

Yes that's what it's called. I tore there naturally too. Hope it heals good it still painful walking. Like a lot of bum pressure. Sometimes it bleeds when I poop lol. One sure has a lot of problems after having a baby that no one ever told me about. It's kinda scary thinking about having another one. What if I'm worse off after? But I guess it could be worse. It could have been a 4th degree tear lol

I keep saying never again but who knows lol, im not as much in pain any more, its just the discharge and still wearing pads that bothers me, i cant wait to feel just knickers on my bits hot pads haha xx

Ya this is my first and last!! Ain't going through this again! Especially when u can actually be permanently damaged. I don't wanna risk it lol

tell me about it, my bum muscles still dont do their job 100% lol x

I had a 3rd degree tear with my first and had an appointment with the hosp to check it had healed at around 8 weeks - they just had a look and poke around lol - asked me to tense my muscles in both vagina and bum while their fingers were inside! I wasnt expecting this so was a little weird so just to let u know whats coming it was like a workout!

No appt needed this time with a 2nd degree tear.

omg thats what im dreading, i really dont fancy a finger in my bum let alone my front LOL x
