Grandparents babysitting, your house or theirs?

Mil has lo 1 day a week at our house. She offered to have him when I went back to work but at her house but my work is like 2 minutes down the road from house so I said it just wasn't convenient for me to drive 45 minutes to drop him off to her and pick up in peak hour traffic. So I said if you want to look after him you can do it our house (I was happy to put him in child care for the 3 days) but she said she'd come to us if we cover her petrol. For babysitting when we go out at night, he's stayed at my mum's over night and my mum / dad have stayed at our house and he's slept at mils twice.

My in-laws have my 18mo for a sleepover once every week or so. It's really, really wonderful. She loves the time with them, they get lots of time with her, and we get a night off, sleep in, and get some chores done. She's been doing sleepovers with them for a while, though.

Early on my husband took her to their place and they both spent the night a few times while I was out of town (because he was a wuss), and I guess that was a nice way for her to get acclimated.

It depends with us my mum only tends to look after the kids in the day unless they r sleeping over which obviously they will be at her house. If she has them in the day they go other house she has lots of toys, high chair, cots, everything she needs for them so they love it there. We also visit my mums 2/3times a week so they r familiar where everything is and are comfortable there.

If mil babysits it's at mine always she doesn't have a very child friendly house and they definitely wouldn't settle at hers they only go there around once a month so aren't familiar with the house at all so she will come to mine and only if they r asleep will she watch them.

Both of mine to go the in laws when I am at work and usually on a saturday, Joshua stays over night.

If we ask my Dad to babysit it is usually because we are going out for a couple of drinks so he comes to our house after we have put the kids to bed.

My Mam will be having the kids from 12pm-7pm on the 3rd May at her house as DH is at work and Dad & I are going on a Gallon Walk.

Both Grandparents have toys at their house.
