Claire's been super fussy in the evenings. It's horrible! She shrieks her head off after her feed for a good two hours or so, and is totally inconsolable. I know she's got gas, and I've tried the whole pumping the leg thing and rubbing her tummy. Sometimes that releases some gas, but not too often.

I had a Dr's appointment today as I was worried it might be Reflux (she throws up quite a bit too). My Dr didn't think that she had Reflux, just gas. I asked about Gripe Water, and if it was safe to give her, and she said that so long as it didn't have alcohol in it, then it should be fine. I ended up buying the Life Brand Alcohol-free Gripe Water (I got it at Shopper's Drug Mart) but one of the ingredients is sodium bicarbonate, which I was reading on a bunch of websites isn't good for a baby to have?

Truth be told, I gave her some tonight and it worked like magic. Not even 10 mins after giving her the Gripe Water she calmed right down and went to sleep. I swear you could hear the angels singing "Halleluja!" when that happened, LMAO.

Anyways, is the sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) safe? Does anyone from Canada know if Gripe Water has to be monitored by either CFIA or some other watchdog? I do know that alot of hollistic stuff doesn't have to meet any sort of requirement for safety.

Ive got the same problem with my little one shes only 2weeks old but had to change her milk and she has a lot of gas and doesnt go to sleep and shrieks after feeds. where as on breast milk she was fine.
im going to give the gripe water a try tho! x
