Growth Scan at 34 and a half weeks- interested to know your thoughts!

Hi Ladies,

I had a scan today to check position of little one and she is still breech. I have been booked in for a rescan in 2 weeks to check to see if she has moved or not otherwise it looks like a ECV or section for me as she is footling breech and can't be born vaginally while she is like this.

What I found really interesting was that she seems to be a biggun!! She is measuring off the scale for some of her measurements.

Her estimated Fetal Weight at the moment is 3,046g which is almost 7ilbs and I am only 34 and a half weeks!

What I would be interested in knowing is if anyone else has had a scan around this time and what did their babys weigh? Also if she is that big I am wondering now whether she will turn or whether she is running out of room so if anyone has any experience of this I would appreciate it!

I know that they are only rough guides, she is in the 92 centile if that helps anyone but not really sure what that means!

Any help would be appreciated!!!

My sister was told her baby was around 8lbs 1oz at 35 weeks so she was really worried. She had her 1 week early and she was born 7lbs 8oz!! They can often get it wrong!!

OH really thats interesting hun, I am just getting panicked that she is getting big in there and is going to run out of room!

Yeh I know what you mean! Try not to worry to much. My yoga teacher keeps saying that the baby will only get as big as your body allows!...hope that's true! xx

I had a growth scan at 34wks exactly and LO weighed 5lb 3oz.

i have growth scans evry 2 weeks, i dnt have my 34til monday so cnt help with that. My 30 weeks was 4lb 11oz and my 32weeks was 5lb 7oz so luking at mayb over 6lb 4 34weeks. Sounds your little one is bigger bt remember just a estimate they have it wrong so so many times x

I was scanned yesterday and was told my baby was big but in comparason he's not, he is only about 5and half pounds!

Do you have your measurements to hand?

Mine are-

BPD (not sure what this is)- 91.0mm
HC 317.0mm
AC 330.0mm (over the scale but only by a little bit)
FL 74.0mm (over the scale)

Overall fetal weight- 3,046g which works out at just under 7ilbs and in the 92.7 centile.


I am really worried she is too big and that she is going to get the cord stuck or run out of room

dont know what centile that is though, they also told me that i had lots of amniotic fluid too!

Thats really interesting actually- if they are saying your lo is big then god knows what mine is! Mine is currently breech and I am worried she is running out of space to move if she is that big but you know what hospitals are like, they just keep saying its fine and she has plenty of time to move.

hi, wow yours is really big, have you had the GTT test? do you have to go back at all?
Ive got high bp and protein in urine so have to go back every 2days for monitoring... also placenta hasnt moved out of the way so ill have section at 38weeks, Hope your baby turns, mind you if she hasnt and she is really big you will be grateful for a section xx

I had a growth scan with my last and at 34 wks and was told to expect a very large baby of at least 12 lbs I had LO at 37 weeks and he was 9lb 7oz so should not have been more than 11lb 7oz if he had gome full term

wow! mine doesnt seem that big at all!

And believe it or not he was fairly easy to push out without medical intervention other than gas and air and no epistemology. I was terrified after the scan as I read about big babies getting their shoulders lodged in the pelvis and getting stuck but trust me it is so rare.

i had a growth scan at 34 and efw was 5lbs 6 ozs and also have one tomo at 36+6 so will update and let u know what efw is....

Had my growth scan yesterday and LO weighed in at 4lb 10oz. Have GD which was the reason for scan but luckily she's not growing too quickly x

I know I'm really worried well I go back in 2 weeks for a rescan to see if she has moved so I guess if she is any bigger then I will have to ask some more questions. I had a finger prick test to check my blood sugar levels is that the same thing?

Thanks Hun and if you don't mind me asking why did you have lo at 37 weeks, did you go into labour naturally or did they induce you due to the fact he was measuring bigger?
