Growth scan/Induction

Hey ladies,

So I've been measuring small all throughout my pregnancy and have constantly been told its due to my small petite frame and that I shouldn't be expecting a big baby anyway. Well my last growth scan was at 31weeks, baby was measuring 3lbs. I haven't had another growth scan since and my due date is next Monday. The consultant wants me to have another growth scan and I have one booked for Friday where they will decide whether to induce me or not depending on babys weight. My question is, is there any point in having a growth scan 3 days before my due date? I feel frustrated at the hospital for not giving me a growth scan earlier and I'm worried sick that my baby may be tiny. I just feel so annoyed. Has anyone been through anything similar?

I have U/S done to monitor the babies growth every 4 weeks and my OB said my little one was about 3lb and 14oz at 32 weeks. This is about 2 weeks behind average but baby has been consistently growing and my placenta looks good so she isn't worried about it. Are they going to try and push you to induce by using the growth as an issue? Is your placenta functioning? I never understood the rationale behind inducing labor for a small baby unless there were issues with the placenta or other health issues because the longer baby stays in the bigger baby will get as long as the pregnancy is healthy and baby is just small but still growing. I hope it all works out OK. Keep us posted.

If I were you I would request another growh scan around 34-36 weeks to make sure your baby is growing correctly and as Wispyshadow said to check the placenta and anything else that could prevent growth - if your baby is growing fine then they should not suggest an induction regardless what the weight is.

They haven't mentioned anything about my placenta. When I had my growth scan at 31 weeks they seemed happy with it all and now all of a sudden at 38 weeks they tell me they want another growth scan. Its really annoyed me as surely they should've gave me the growth scan before at like 34 weeks not 3 days before my due date! It doesn't make sense to me.The only reason they gave me growth scans in the 1st place is due to my low bmi pre-pregnancy. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll defo try to get more info out of them before agreeing to anything.

I don't understand why they are inducing you if there is nothing wrong ? I get the scan - but unless the scan shows baby is not doing well there is no point in inducing. Why not let the baby cook longer and continue to develop?
