Hi ladies :flower:

I have never made it this far in a pregnancy before so it's an acheievement for me :) anyways... I'm going for a growth scan today and dont know what to expect.

Do they just try to estimate the babies weight? Or do they check for potential problems aswel? Also my babies head down and never been able to have his head measured, many people have tried to get his head measurements but all failed miserably.. Can they estimate his weight without it? Or check his growth? Just wondering what to expect that's all :) I'm quite excited :)

One thing I'm hoping is that he is still a boy as if not I'll be running around after returning all the blue things I have bought :haha:

Thankyou

sorry I don't know, I have a scan later to check for poly and im also wondering what to expect.. just stopping to say I hope it goes well :) xx

I had a growth scan as im 3 weeks behind on fundal height. Scan was quite quick, she measured the head, leg and tummy and estimated baby to be 7lb3 x

Basically what the above poster said its just an ultrasound to measure the head, tummy, legs, check amniotic fluid, and weight. Usually they'll give you some pictures to take with you of the baby if hes in a good position and cooperating. I have to get one every 4 weeks cause I'm high risk. bleh! Good luck!

They check heart and kidneys at mine. If they can't get a good head measurement the estimate won't be very accurate. The more squished up they are in there too the harder it is to get good estimates.

There not very good at getting the birth weight right not even close iv found, was told my daughter would only be around 6lb at birth as she was tiny and when she came out she was 8lb4oz with a huge head bless her

At our last two they have measured his head, femur and looked and his stomach and the blood flow through the cord, listened to his heart beat and then we got an estimated weight +/- 6oz. We have one more at 35 weeks
