The midwife in the hospital told me that il get a cb form in the bounty pack and once sending off for child benefit they will inform child tax credits due to age etc

so i registed DD @ 4 weeks old sent forms off 2 days later, when i went in to the jobcentre and asked them could i send it by recorded delivery for it to come back aswel. whilst i was there i phoned healthy star and tax credits informing them DD been born early, and she was now here, tax credit lady just said oh alright il update the system and (due to now being on income support) to now apply for child benefit (which i already was doing). and that was it she just said bye and stuff, so i assumed that she was encouraging me to apply for cbenefit so they could put forth my tax credits details.

started recieving cbenefit week 6 (got back paid)

was passing a job centre the next day after recivieng this and i thought hmm let me just ask at the desk they sent me to a phone and after 20 minutes on the form i had to do a over the phone questionaire were they told me i was entitiled (from that date) 63.95 or sumfink a week, and she would send out a form and if i havent recieved nothing in 10 days to contact them again.

i told her wat margret(midwife) told me, she just kept saying no no no you have to order a form...but im like ergh iphoned tax credits on this date and was not informed of this...she said 'i should have asked' ergh how do i no i have to ask if ive been told it will get done for me!!!!!

so now hold on a minute does that mean i wont get backpaid for the last 7 weeks, as i REALLY need that money, ive been borrowing off friends and family and was planning on paying them back when that came through.


or will i just get paid from the date i technically applied for the form even though i still havent recieved the form.

help please!!!!

(also i recievd my child trust fund voucer 2 days before my CB Came through :S)

and thats via tax credits so they must have known right???

to be honest luv i avnt got a clue about benefits

your best gettin in touch with citizens advice and they will help u with all that they know what ur entitles to an what u r not entitles to

Mine got backdated to when Dylan was born and I didnt apply for the tax credits until my child benefit had come through as you need a reference thing from that on the form for tax credits. It should get backdated though hun x

I had a lot of trouble sorting out my CB which held up my CTC as well as Krissie is right u do need CB number to apply for CTC.

They back dated my claim 90 days before the date stamped on the form when I recieved it. But if you are unhappy then u can appeal against the decision.

My tax credits got backdated to when gemma was born without me asking.. after a lot of calls chasing them up in desperation though as i'd also been borrowing money from family and friends..

I had alot of trouble with tax credits and when they finally paid me they had to backdate me 14months, they don't usually, but they messed up not me

its standard for them to backdate CB and tax credits 90 days so you should be fine
