Hello All,

I'm new to writing threads but have found that whenever a bit nervous about something, there are many people here who that can offer good insight.

I'm now 9 weeks 5 days into my first pregnancy and yesterday (Friday) I had very minor cramping approximately 5 minutes followed by a some red blood and a small clot (There has been no additional cramping or pain). I immediately called my midwife who said to wait it out. An hour later, I had a big gush of blood which immediately stopped (without any other symptoms of cramping or pain).

This morning I woke up dry but did feel very nauseous and was dry heaving. During this, some spots of brown blood did come out.

I immediately rang the midwife on-call who said to prepare myself for a miscarriage and unfortunately that there is nothing I can do but to wait and see. I am booked in for an U/S on Monday morning.

Obviously, my husband and I are both very nervous and anxious as we have to wait an entire weekend to see what is happening. However, we are trying to keep positive.

Any experiences that you could share would be definitely helpful and greatly appreciated!

We will update as we know more.

I had a large gush at 7 and 8 weeks that stopped as quickly as it started. I had a scan which revealed a haematoma (pocket of fluid) nxt to the sac which was causing it. it resolved itself by 12 weeks.

I did start having painless gushes from 19 weeks til i delivered at 25 weeks, but i delivered so early due to infection (gbs) and my i had placental abruption.

Stay positive and im sure everything will be fine. xx

I feel silly giving anecdotes about this kind of thing, since I have no way of knowing what's going on, but a good friend tells me she had a major bleeding episode in second trimester with each of her children. Blood pooling on the floor calling for the ambulance kind of bleeding. In both cases, it was not serious, stopped, and didn't interfere with the pregnancy. The kids are now grown, and perfectly fine.

I have no idea how common that is, but it did happen to her, twice.

just to give you some hope, i've had bleeding on and off throughout my whole pregnancy. Just the other day I had what sounds alot like what you had. I had a huge gush of blood, it stopped and I had some minor spotting after that. Baby's fine. good luck :hugs:
