Hi. I had my baby premature today at 29 weeks 5 days. I was hospitalized on August 25 for PIH and the problems just kept coming. I had pre-eclampsia, a placental abruption and reduced blood flow to the cord. Today they decided it was too dangerous to keep her inside anymore and I had a c-section. I had steroid shots on August 25 and 26.

Aimee Elizabeth was born at 1:21pm weighing 2 pounds 2 ounces. She's very tiny but she is long. She is breathing on her own and crying a lot. She has a breathing tube right now, not sure what it is called. They said it is just for positive reinforcement.

Welcome too the world little one, I am so sorry she came so early but SUPER happy she is doing well!! I will be praying for her!!!

Congratulations on your little one! Preemies are precious and though the NICU journey is an arduous one, so many of us are right there with you going through it.

The positive pressure is likely being provided by CPAP--continuous positive airway pressure. At 29+5 the breathing may take a bit of time to master but hopefully your LO can graduate to cannula soon and some of the cord/wire discomfort will be alleviated.

Best wishes to you and your family!

Congratulations and welcome to the world little one x x x :) xxxx

congratulations on your little bundle. I had my lil boy at 29 weeks 5 too. Its a tough road ahead but she will be home before you know it. Its a good gestation and with the steriods on board as well. You will see many a baby with a harder battle ahead.
But mostly CONGRATULATIONS. i found people never said it to me, she is ur baby however small.
any questions u have over you nicu journey, feel free to message me. x

Congratulations on your extra special delivery,

Your baby sounds like she is doing amazing i hope she continues to do well and hope your doing well too.

My little premie was born at 27 +5 and he turns the big 1 in 15 days, Looking back i felt like time would never move and now i cant believe its gone so fast,

Congratulations again xx

Congratulations on your little baby. I have had two preemies -- a 28 weeker, and a 35 weeker. The NICU is one heck of a journey, but you'll get through it, and so will your little trooper. :hugs:

Thanks everyone. I got to see her and touch her today. She's so tiny but she's got a good grip already. She was grabbing my finger. I am going back in the morning and they are going to let me hold her and change her diaper.

They said in about 3-4 weeks, she should be able to get moved to the hospital in my city. She's currently about 45 minutes from my house. I am in the hospital here until probably Sunday, it's going to be hard to leave her and go home.

Congratulations. My son was born at 27 weeks and is now 10 months old (7 corrected) and is doing amazingly well. He spent a lot of time on a ventilator though and your girl is breathing on her own which is amazing! It's going to be a tough journey and you will have set backs but you will get there x

glad to hear the update, yes it will be very difficult to leave and everyday she is not home with you will also be hard. Its not easy, my son was born @ 25 weeks so its a journey i know all to well. Try to take time for yourself and prepare for her homecoming. The NICU is like a rollarcoaster take each day as it comes.

Congrats on your delivery, it's crazy how similar our stories are. My son Aidan was born at 28 weeks 2pounds 3ounces 13". I lived 45 minutes from the hospital too. Your little girl is probly on some form of a respirator to help her lungs work, but hopefully will be on just a nasal tube soon. Don't be afraid to hold her once she is off the respirator, she needs kangaroo care, and all the wires and tubes bother you more than they do her. Don't get too scared if she loses weight at first because they all do, keep us posted and I hope everything goes well.

I know the feeling, I had my twin girls at 29 weeks, on 9-21-12, they weighed 2lbs 9oz and 2lbs 10oz, I live an hour away from where they are right now, I cant wait to hold them, they are on the cpap machine and feeding through a tube at current, im going to go see them tomorrow, I got released from the hospital on tuesday. It is hard to be away from them and not being able to hold them right now. I miss them already, it seems to be a long journey and wait.

How are you and your baby doing?

Sorry, I just saw this now. We are both doing really good. Aimee is off CPAP as of Wednesday. She is doing amazing for being 10 weeks early. She has a small hole in her heart, but her doctor said he thinks it will close on it's own and she will just have a follow-up appointment in a few months. Other than that, no problems at all. :happydance: I can't wait until she gets the feeding tube out, they have to tape it down really good because she likes to pull on it. She is 2 pounds, 14 ounces as of last night. I added a picture that was taken today.

Congratulations! :baby: I live about 40 minutes from the hospital my daughter is at. It's so hard being away from her. She has to gain a bit more and then they are going to send her to the hospital here. She has to be 1500 grams and as of last night was 1316.

Will they let you hold them soon? I got to hold Aimee when she was 5 days old for the first time. She is still fed through a tube too. I should be able to try breast feeding next week. They told me when she is 34 weeks that I could try breast feeding, which will be Thursday of next week. It will only be once a day at first, but at least it's a start.

If you ever want to talk, feel free to PM me. I know exactly how you feel since I feel the same way.
