So I posted that I had a private scan and I measured five days behind. The baby was six weeks exaxtlly should a been six plus five. Then today three days after that scan where if I was going by the scan date I should be 6+3 but I was measuring 6+1 I tried to explain this to the nurse but since there was a heartbeat she just kinda brushed me off.

Im so happy that there's still a heart beat but don't u think that its weird its been three days and its only measuring a day bigger. Or do think it could be Cuz they were measured at different places.. I know I'm ranting I'm just nervous I want my baby to be healthy so bad I'm just worried about every little thing

you may have ovulated a couple of days later than usually, so the dates of your LMP don't match the scan dates. if there was a heartbeat it may be just that, that your ovulation dates that you gave them, based on your last menstrual period and the usual length of your cycles, are off.

Think of it this way-imagine trying to use sound waves to find and measure accurately a pea in a gallon ice cream bucket of jello without looking. That's what the sonographer is doing. And with early early ultrasounds like this, there's SO many things that can throw off those measurements-the position of the ultrasound wand, abdominal vs transvaginal ultrasounds, the skill and experience of the sonographer, the age of the equipment, where baby implanted, and even the time of day since those babies can grow SO much in just a few days. I was told not to go by any early ultrasound measurements until at least 8 weeks, preferably 12, because they can be off by as much as a week for any of these reasons. And my son and daughter both measured a week smaller than my lmp dates my entire pregnancies. The dr wasn't worried as I was consistently measuring smaller every appointment and my kids were born healthy, full-term, and just fine. So it's also possible you just have a very small baby.

Thank you I feel better now just happy lO is still flickering away

I don't really know a lot about this but I shouldn't think it's too much to worry about. I was put back 9 days with my first scan with LO and everything was fine! As PP mentioned, there's soo many factors affecting it and it can be really hard to get accurate measurements until further, plus there was such a small difference in dates for you. X

My midwife told me that in the early stages, getting exact measurements down to the days is extremely tricky. Because they're so tiny and all develop at different rates. It's the same for your 20 week scan (except they're not so tiny anymore :haha) Every baby and woman is different. At 20 weeks they usually give you a new due date. My midwife told me to completely ignore it. The weeks from any of your scans are accurate, however the days is just a rough estimate, especially early in the first trimester. I've had two scans and have measured a day behind at each which is why I asked my midwife these questions. Just relax, darling xo

Usually they use those early ultrasounds as dating ultrasounds, they usually plan your due date around that ultrasound. It's not very accurate to go by your last period as everyone ovulates at a different time. Don't be to worried!

I had a private scan when we thought I was around 8+5. I measured 7+5. At my 12 week scan, I should have been 11+3 but measured 11+6. Don't worry about it, it's too small to be accurate :)
