DS is 7 months and a bit under the weather. Last night he would not settle and slept on me. I noticed lots of little twitches in his hands and feet as he slept and now I'm really worried. Does anyone else's LOs do this? He had a temp but it was only 38.8 so high but not really high. I have noticed it in his naps today but it might have been ongoing for longer without me really noticing because they are quite small movements. It is only while he sleeps.

My lo is constantly wriggling, stretching and readjusting. I'm not worried though, my DH still does it!

Mine does this as she falls asleep, though she didn't start until she was a few months old. I've read that it's related to REM sleep, as babies spend a lot more time in this stage than older children or adults. You could Google benign myoclonus or hypnic jerks - that's likely what this is.

It's sort of like when we are falling asleep and suddenly feel like we are falling and jolt, or have a random muscle spasm. If he doesn't do it when he is awake, I wouldn't worry. If you study him again, you might notice that it happens while he is not quite in that deep sleep stage where his breathing becomes slow and regular.

Yes me!! My DS started doing this at about 3-4 weeks old, I was so worried because his eyes were rolling when going to sleep too that I took him to a&e and they admitted him for observation and said it was benign sleep myoclonus and not to worry unless he started doing it when he was awake
