I went to the doctors yesterday and it made things feel real! It was very exciting.

I am desperate to tell my parents - not least so I can ask my mum for advice - but there are a few relatives visiting this weekend and we thought best to wait until they leave. My mum is rubbish at keeping secrets, she doesn't shout them out but she says really obvious things lol. So my grandad leaves next Wednesday and we are going to invite them over for dinner and tell them. I feel like I am keeping a really big secret and I'm super close to my mum so it's odd not telling her yet!

So according to the doctor I'm 6weeks (instead of my four) which sounds nice as I'm further along! Lol. Will I get my first scan before I'm 12weeks or 14? When did you have yours?

I'm feeling ok but noticed I'm developing a bit of a gag reflex at certain things - such as feeding the dogs! I usually love my breakfast but not having much of an appetite on a morning. However, I am loving my little symptoms as it means everything is still happening :)

you should get your first scan between 10-13 weeks in the UK and depends if your having Nuchal testing in the US if you get it at that stage or not.

hey , firstly congratulations ! id tell your mum but really put it across to her tht she has to keep it a secret because that is really important to you, she should understand, plus yes it would be great to ask her for advice ! i told mine straight away and told my grandparent at around 6 weeks because they are quite old and thought it so special for them as the eldest in the family because they are seeing another generation being created ! i was lucky enough to have great grandparents so i thought it was important ! people say to wait until 12 weeks but im personally not superstitious ,its all down to personal preference ! good luck and a happy and healthy 9 months to you n baby xx

Thank you for the advice! 10-13 weeks is not so far away I'm really keen to get this first scan out of the way but then I suppose everyone is.

Another reason for holding off this weekend on telling people is because my sister is visiting and she really wants a baby too and she is a bit older than me and getting to the stage where she is worrying about her age. Although she would be so so excited that I was pregnant I think it would also stress her out a little and make her feel her clock was ticking and she's been though a lot lately so I'd rather wait to tell her once we have had the scan and are in a bit of a safer place.

It's tricky with my sis because I know she'll be thrilled but that it will make her want a baby even more and in a way it will be a little difficult for her.
