Had hsg today, showed possible blocked left tube, any ideas what happens now?

Hi,

We've been trying for two years now, were seeing a fertility specialist, SA was normal and I've had the hsg today which I was briefly told that my left tube maybe blocked but the fertility specialist will see me in January to discuss things. Does anyone know what happens from now? Would they unblock the tube or give me meds or just go straight to IVF?

you will probably be given some clomid first of all to stimulate your overies into producing more than one folical, don't loose hope at least now you know what you are facing and one blocked tube in the big scheme of things isn't too bad. Good luck!!!!!!!

I was just told that my left tube is completely blocked and my right is slow moving. The doc pretty much told me my only option is ivf. She said that sometimes they track to see when you are ovulating on the good side and try to increase your chances during that time. That really isn't an option for me because my right tube is pretty bad as well. I have been looking into unblocking tubes lately and it all depends on what is blocking it, where the blockage is, and how bad it is. I have read about a type of physical therapy that unblocks tubes too. I can't remember the name of it and I am on my phone right now so I can't look it up. I hope you get better news than I do on this. If you need to chat, feel free to pm me...I know exactly what you are going through. Maybe we can be blocked tube buddies...I should start a blocked tube buddies group...lol...but not really funny please keep me posted, ill be thinking about you.

Just echoing what navy wife said. If your tubes are blocked next to the uterus, the unblocking surgery can be effective. I really just had the technique done because they couldn't do the hsg due to my anatomy, but they said that the guide wire managed to clear the blockage which was near the uterus. Might be worth looking in to. From what I've read here, it seems the most common next step is a lap and dye?
