Had my early scan today...

Hi Ladies,

Well, we had the scan and were lucky enough to hear our baby's heartbeat! I had prepared myself so much for bad news that i was quite numb really (shaking quite a bit tho). Bubba is 6w3d old!

There was a little bit of negative news - there was a 'marginal collection' of blood in there too, which the Doc said will probably lead to spotting in the next few days. I pushed him and he said it could be harmless, but it might not be.

So, i am happy but i am worried too!

Jeez, why can't this be simple?!

I have an appointment with the OB GYN for monday and i presume that is when i will get the shot if at all,

Great that you have the appointment for Monday - you could always ask about pessaries instead of shots as an alternative too,should it come to that of course!

Bubs is either headbutting or irish dancing on my cervix at the moment, which is reaaaally an odd feeling but reassuring nonetheless! Got my progesterone injection tonight (OH does them for me which saves 2 trips to the doc every week) although I feel odd after coming home from the clinic with supplies -basically a handbag full of progesterone vials,needles and syringes - I hope like hell those trips are not the one time I get pulled over by the cops or something!
My prog levels were 84 monday fortnight ago, and 127.6 this past monday, so they're slowly getting there!

That's great news about your scan, and try not to worry about the blood - I had a big bleed on my first scan and had continuous bleeding until about 11.5 weeks and now it's almost gone and baby is fine.

Thanks Millwallrose, that is reassuring. Did you get scans in between? My doc has suggested i just take it easy when the bleed happens and then wait until 12 weeks for the next scan. I think i would rather get one more in before 12 weeks, especially after the impending bleed plus '12 weeks' is a very big milestone after an MMC.

Carmello - i dropped the scan report off at the Docs and she called me almost immediately asking if i was free to have the progesterone shot. It wasn't too bad at all (so far!). She thinks we will just do them until 12 weeks to ensure the placenta is well developed.

I had a bleed just over a week after my first because of a big red bleed, but I didn't want to bother them after that, but my EPU were pretty good and said to call if I had anymore big bleeds and they would scan me. Hopefully they treat you the same.
