Tiramisu, shop bought is ok as the eggs are pasteurised, dont forget also that because it is shop bought it has to go through rigourous testing, dont panic about it huni xx

Thanks a lot!thats a huge relief!!
I should avoid eating it any more though..thank you again

There's no reason to avoid it, pasteurised eggs are fine x

Pasteurised eggs are fine :) it's just raw eggs which haven't been pasteurised you need to watch. Most if not all desserts you can buy in the store are pasteurised, as shops don't want to risk food poisoning. So go ahead and enjoy another slice!!

You'll be fine. We're Italian and eat tiramisu all the time, even when pregnant. Store bought is a lot different than fresh made, and the eggs in it have been pasturized.

Thank you every one..you girls are an awesome support..I am relieved now.. Sigh!

I wouldn't panic I've had raw cake mix! I was downing it by the spoonful before I realised I was eating raw eggs... I'm fine and my baby is still baking.

I have had lots of desserts with raw eggs in them from reputable stores throughout my pregnancy and didn't have a problem :)

Hi girls, this is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure whether I am being strict enough with my food & drink consumption.

I steer clear of raw fish, raw egg , soft cheeses and alcohol but sometimes have equivalent to 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day, give into my sausage cravings, eat store bought salads & often consume way too many sugary sweets. I constantly feel guilty about what I have & worry I may be hurting my baby.

What do you think?

Most soft cheeses are ok as they are pasteurized, unless you go to a remote French village and have artisanal cheese.
Store bought salads are a no no for me, last year I had e coli from salad I got from a store. Now I switched to STEAMED veggies when I'm eating out, and I wash my fruits and veggies well with either soapy water or water and vinegar to kill the bacteria when I'm at home.

Well cooked sausage is ok, as well as a cup or 2 cups of coffee a day. As I can't limit myself to that little I switched to de caf.

As I said I ate many sweets with raw egg in, but I wouldn't have runny yolks at home, kwim? Better safe than sorry.

I think if you limit your "forbidden" foods to having them once in a while you are good to go.

Women were (and still are) totally unaware of all these rules for many years and the human race still continues to exist, so don't obsess too much.

Just avoid sushi or raw red meat, and make sure your salad is well washed or steamed ;)
