IM 19 weeks pregnant and had to have a CT scan and a chest xray tonight. Had been having chest pain and shortness of breath for 2 days. So i went to Urgent Care and they were worried about a blood clot in my lung. So they sent me to the hospital. The hospital did a blood test and said my D-dimmer (sp) or whatever its called was high. So they did the xray and Ct scan. Now im freaking out thinking i've harmed my baby!!!

Has ANYONE else had to have these done and there baby be ok? I read that it can cause childhood cancer, mental ******ation, ect.. im Freaking out!

I haven't - but my Mum had to have an X-ray when she was 9months pregnant with me and I am absolutely fine :D No health problems, intelligent, clearly not infertile :winkwink:

Back in the day when our parents were born X-Rays during pregnancy were a matter of course!! I would imagine they wouldn't have done it if there was any risk to the baby hun :hugs:

Hi Hun I saw your post and wanted to write back straight away! I had a pulmonary embolism (clot in the lung) two years ago stared as chest pain, then coughing up blood. D diner was high so had chest x ray and ct scan. It was so scary, I wasn't pregnant at the time but I know the benefit of finding out you have a clot is much higher than the risk of harming baby. Also if they didn't diagnose it it can be fatal very quickly if left untreated (sorry don't want to freak you out hun) I'm now on fragmin injections throughout this whole pregnancy and 6 weeks after due to my history. You'll be fine as there's lots of treatment for clotting while pg now, good luck and I'm sure babs if fine xx

Thanks for replying everyone. I just wanted to say also that my tests came back ok. No clot or anything.

I had to have all of this done at about 14 weeks - they thought I had a clot too as my count was WAY high. They did the contrast dye and scan and everything was OK - no clot. When I went in for my 20 week scan, the baby looked great. I have no idea what effects there will be down the road, but honestly I think everything will be OK.

I know this wasn't much help - just wanted to let you know I had been in that position
