Hello all, I really need to sort out my hair! is it safe to use home highlighting kits, like nice n easy etc..?? Ive had a google it seems people have really divided opinions. What do you think? shall I wait till 12 weeks? or will I be okay at 10? thank you

After my 2 mc's I dont want to take any risks. Do you think the chemicals could cause another? xx

I have had mine done at hairdressers. My hairdresser said as long as it's not peroxide or frequent then it should be fine. However I waited till 16 weeks to do mine x

I'm A Student Hairdresser And Spoke To My Tutor About This and There Is Nothing To Suggest Dying Your Hair Is Harmful But It's Best To Use Semi Permenant Hair Dyes For Your First Trimester ... Don't Put Peroxide Or Amonia Directly Onto Your Scalp Use Foils And Make Sure Windows Are Open... If You Are Still Worried Ask A Hairdresser Or A Friend To Do It For You ....Hope This Helped!

My hairdresser said it's just perming solution you need to avoid.

Im a hairdresser. There is no proof that chemicals will do anything but we suggest that you just stick to highlights and dont put it in the scalp. All hair tints contain peroxide to some level it is just vegtable dyes that dont. After 12 weeks you can apply to the scalp.

Hope this helps, I know how you feel I have had 3 mmc and won't take risks either. Just found out I'm pregnant again with no 4 this weekend.... x

Everyone seems to give different advice.. I was told to have hair dyed at the haridressers as the chemicals are a little less toxic than a box dye. I usually dye my hair every 6-8 weeks at home out a box.. i never dyed it until 14 weeks and I have done it twice, i will try keeping it grey as long as possible.

thank you every body! and congratulations sunshine girl, wish you every luck with your pregnancy this time xx

I will ask my midwife today and get back to you...x

I had my hair dyed from bright blonde to dark brown the day before i got my BFP. I panicked a little as obviously it was a full head dye which was on my scalp - I rang a MW and she said nowadays its really not anything to worry about but they tend to say to leave it until after 12 weeks just for your personal piece of mind.

The biggest risk is not to your baby - its to your hair itself! Apparently preggo hormones can interfere with the dye and you may get a different result to what you want or expect!

That being said I would probably make sure you had your hair dyed by a professional and not do it yourself just for the duration of pregnancy xxxxx

i havent dyed my hair since i found out i was preg (my roots are badddd!!) but luckily dont look toooo bad - as natural hair colour blends with dyed hair colour lol!!!!

i asked midwife if it is safe to dye hair and she said it is fine!!! and that evryone asks that question - but i darent still!

think i am more wary because i have had a m/c to

I've had foil highlights throughout all my pregnancies x

I even had full blown colour correction at 4 weeks with luisa as I dint know.ifwas pregnant!dohh ::
