Hi ladies

Sorry if this has been asked a million times over but im new to all this :winkwink:

Is it safe to dye your hair?? I'm 10+5 and havent dyed my hair for about 3 months but im curious my hairdresser said she wont dye it until im at least 18weeks. Is this correct advice or should i not be even concidering it then?

Thanks in advance.

Your hairdresser has the right to refuse of course, but hair dye is considered to be safe. My doctor and midwife are both in agreement about this and so is every pregnancy book that I own. You would have to use seriously industrial amounts of the chemicals in home dye to cause any harm. If they were harmful they would be taken off the market as a woman who didn't know she was pregnant could use one.
If your hairdresser won't change her mind, you could do a home job. make sure you keep the windows open for ventilation and make sure you do not skip the patch test as your skin may be more sensitive.
There is all sorts of stuff you can read on the internet but of course, not everyone writing it knows what they are talking about.
As far as I am concerned, if the whole of the NHS says it is ok, it ought to be just fine!

My doctor said its ok, but to wait until 12 weeks when bubble is stronger if I am worried :)

Thanks ladies, will wait a little while and then decide it may have to be a do it yourself job if i cant wait til 18weeks lol
