Half their adult height at 2?

https://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_it_tr...and_double_it_that_will_be_their_adult_height
"The mulitply the 2 year old height, was taken from a study in 1950 that stated children reach 60% of their height by age three. Later people just said to double the 2 year old height, which was incorrect."

If that were true I should be 5' 8" and i'm only 5' 1".

Bryson is 20 months and is 36" tall. That would put him at 6' by the time he is an adult. It could be possible for him as his dad is 6' 2".

I think it's more of an estimate than a fact kind of thing. My husband was 3 ft tall at 2 which would make him 6 feet. But he's actually 6'5". Rocco was a quarter inch taller than my husband was at 2 so who knows!!

If this is right then it means Dec will be 5'10, same as his dad :)

They say that, to figure out a kid's future height (from any age) you can average out the parents' heights and then add two inches for a boy, subtract two for a girl.

Now, my mom is 5'9 and my dad is 5'7, averaged to 5'8. Subtracting two, I'm supposed to be 5'6 which I probably would be closer to if my back wasn't so crooked (I lost a couple inches of height to my scoliosis :(). But then, my grandparents' heights average about 5'10 and they have a daughter who is 5'4 and a son who is 6'6! :haha:

I haven't had C measured in ages, but going by the above formula, C should grow to about 5'2.

defo not true in my oh case. he was a wee titch at two! his mum even took him to the doctors thinking there was something wrong with him lol and now at 22 hes 6 ft 3. my los timy too so im hoping hell be the same. hes 15 months and every1 thinks hes 9 or 10 months :dohh: x

UK ladies, if you look in the back of the red book there is a page where they (or you) can do a calculation to estimate adult height based on child's height age 2 and mum and dad's height.

My bubba's quite small for his age so far (about 25%ile I think), but me and DH are both quite tall (5ft 9 and 5ft 11)so it'll be interesting to see if we end up with a short ass son!

I haven't had Carmen measured in ages, but going by the above formula, Carmen should grow to about 5'2.

This is how we have done it. My oldest son's father was like 5'11" and I'm 5'3.5" so averaged out and adding two, my son should be 5' 9.25" but he is 5' 8" so close enough. My hubby is 5' 7" and I'm 5' 3.5" so our girls should be 5' 3.25" and our boys should be 5' 7.25". Our oldest daughter now is 5' 2.5" and I stopped growing at about 13 or 14 so she should be in the 5' 3" - 5' 4" range like predicted.

I also would have been 6' tall, but I'm only 5'-7".
