I have been breastfeeding for over three months and my baby cries a lot apart from at night after a formula bottle...I tried her the other day on formula in the day and she was happier for much longer so reckon she is hungry when I am feeding her...I love feeding her but the crying gets me down and I have to spend so long feeding her. Ultimately I want her to be happy and hat to think I have been starving her has anyone else found there babies are more content when switching to bottles ?

Breast milk is digested quicker, and the baby has to work harder for it hence why she'll sleep longer on formula and find it easy to get. Even the slow flow teats are easy than the breast. However, I doubt you've been starving her! She'll just need breast milk more often than formula because it's going through her quicker.

Hopefully one of the BFers on here can give you more advice. :)

i know how u feel, i've been bfing for over 4months and jack sometimes has a bottle and it makes him much happier, but it like was rafwife said it cause breast milk is digested quicker which is why they need it more, i would try and keep going but if u cant u have done it for a good amount of time. it gets me down sometime to but i find keep him really busy helps him to go longer like putting him in his bumbo and me doing house work around him, he like to watch try that

I dont know I think its six and three twos! Leo seems more content but gets worse wind and looks really puffy and groggy. He is much more alert on just breast milk and I would prefer him this way as he will learn so much more and take so much more in. Ive tried expressing a bottle in the morning and giving this on top of a full breast feed i.e both sides and this works just as well. Maybe a boost to your milk supply like some fenufeek may help?

I tried BFing in the beginning and she was simply colicky and cranky... The formula was much better for her in the long run and we are both much happier. I dont find her groggy or anything on formula...

However, you need to do what is going to make you both happy! Each to their own, formula is not poison and some babies are simply much more hungry then others.

formula works better for my LO and he's much happier and more alert since being on it. Awake all day and sleeps at night. xx

I breastfed for 5weeks untill i had a whole week of literally non stop crying because he was so so hungry and he fed and fed and i literally had no milk left, im not sure why as i thought the more baby feeds the more milk comes through but that wasnt the case with me! I put him on formula after that and he slept through the night untill 5am and was a much happier baby!
