Harlan or Acher?

We are either using Harlan James or Archer James.

My issue is that I hate the nickname AJ and my husband is insistent on using it for Archer. I think Archer is the "safe" choice but I personally like Harlan more. Harlan doesn't have a nickname and that's why my husband prefers Archer.

Safe name everyone likes with nickname I hate or name I like a lot with no nickname?

I prefer Archer, but I would go with Harlan, as I can't stand the nickname AJ. Could you talk your husband into using something else? Like Arch, Archie? Ar?

I like Harlan better. Don't really like Archer or AJ :/
