I moved address quite a few months back but never got round to changing GP Surgery's as I was pregnant and didnt want the hassle of changing midwifes etc.. But now I think I'm gonna have to otherwise all my forms will have my old address on (mat1b form, health in pregnancy grant etc). I'm not sure that my current surgery will let me stay with them if they know I've moved as its quite far away.

Has anyone else changed halfway through or do you know whether they will let me stay?

im in the same situation as you hun but in my first pregnancy i changed surgerys at the begining of my pregnancy they sorted it all pretty quickly x

depending on your surgery they may let you stay. actually, if it's far away i doubt they will. i switched at about 12 weeks with last baby and all my records just changed accordingly.
just bite the bullet. xx

i moved and was allowed to stay. but ive decided to move to my local one rather then the one im with. its 15 miles away. i did have a thread asking for advice somwhere in here, and got some good bits of info. i will try and find the link hun xx

I moved 30 miles away about 3 years ago but I stuck with my old surgery. When I told the doctor I was pregnant and thinking about moving she said it was probably for the best as she was more than happy for me to stay but they wouldn't offer home visits etc with me living so far away and with a new baby it's something I will need i heatlh visitors etc. I went to the new surgery, filled in a form, made a registration appointment and all my notes were switched no problem

Are you still under the same hospital area care? If so it wont make too much difference i moved during being pregnant and didnt change mine BUT i was in another hospitals area so once i had the baby i was abandoned by my midwife aftercare as i was out of areafor them it was pretty awful esp with a new baby so if you are in a different hosp catchment def change sooner than later x

Hi, I have just moved surgery as i moved from Leeds to Wakefield, the midwife in Leeds was ok but suggested i move as they would not be able to offer home visits etc, i can still have my baby at Leeds LGI as i had planned. I had my first visit today and they were great, they had read all my records and to be honest its probably a lot easier as the doctors are a lot closer. I didn;t really want to change if i am being homest but glad i did!!! Was really easy to do as well, i just walked in, explained i had moved and was pregnant and saw the midwife within a week!
