Hi everyone,
As said in my previous thread i was treated with methotrexate on Tuesday 18/11 for an asymptomatic suspected ectopic pregnancy. The guidelines say they expect that in the first week after having it your hcg levels will rise, i had a blood test fri 21/11 and my levels had gone up, i had another test mon 24/11 (this was the seventh day) and they had only decreased slightly.
as a result they want me to have another treatment tomorrow 27/11. i dont want to do this as it means i have to wait 6 months instead of 3 months to ttc. i have asked if they could test my blood once more before i have the second injection and they have refused.:hissy:

anyone else had this happen to them?

oh love. :( i'm so sorry. i dont have any helpful advice, but is there a different doctor you could ask about testing your blood again?

hi rabbit.....i didn't have methotrexate for my mc.......but i do know what it is like as i have rheumatoid arthritis so up until trying for a LO, i was taking mtx.....i had to wait 6 months before coming off birth control......

get yourself better though.....take care....

:hugs:

thanks for that hopedance.
i did make a bit of a fuss at the hospital and managed to persuade them to do another blood test before the injection ( although the silly buggers rang me and a rather snotty nurse told me i was going against medical "protocol" and still wanted me to have the injection before my results were back!!!!). the very good news was that my levels had dropped from 700 odd to 400 odd so the nurse i saw said i didn't have to have the second injection, and she didn't see what all the fuss was about in the first place as they had not left it a full 7 days to do the second test!:happydance:

Just wanted to say well done for persuading them to test your blood again and saving getting the injection.
I had a PUL and suspected ectopic at the end of Sept and know how stressful it is waiting for results and not knowing if you are about to have an ectopic, not to mention having to worry about waiting another 6 months to ttc again if you were to get the injection. I didn't get any injection luckily, but had my bloods tested for nearly 3 weeks and bled for 3 weeks.
Just wishing you all the best and glad to hear you are out of danger, though very sorry for your loss, hope youre doing ok:hug::hug:
Out of curiosity were to told to wait 3 months to ttc again?

Im sorry, i dont have any advice.
I just wanted to say im so sorry for your loss :hugs:

Hi tillymum, sorry for your losses:hug:
i've been having my blood taken for over a month already! and been bleeding on and off for the same time. seems to have been forever.
i was told to wait 3 months before ttc, i've been reading up on it loads and lots of sites suggest waiting only a cycle before trying again, but then others say it has been found to still be in some peoples system 4 months after the injection..... who knows.
gonna wait 3 months just to be on the safe side though.
i'm still stressing cos i've got to continue having bloods until levels have dropped completely and it would be just my luck for them to rise again... fingers crossed......

Hey rabbit

Thought I would pop in to give you some  - sounds like you need them sweety x
