Ok, I know it's a long shot but I have not dilated at all since last week. I am still stuck at 1 cm. I'm exhausted and kinda sick of being pregnant now. Has anyone ever gone into labor shortly after being told they are less than 1 cm dialated?

no, i was dilated at 1 cm for weeks n still had to be induced with both :/

I was 40w+ 2 when I went into labor. When they checked me at hospital I was only 1 cm, I had my DD in my arms in 24 hours.

When your body is ready, things will start happening soon. Good Luck!

I had a check up and was not dilated at all. Doc said I would go another week or two. My water broke the next day and I had my baby! Anything is possible:)

I was having contractions with ds all day on a Sunday they were really regular but not very painful, some would take my breath away some were fine!
I decided to go the hospital as my daughter was born in 1 hour 40 mins without pain relief so I thought maybe I was just coping well.

I got examined and was told I was fully closed! Not dilated and cervix nowhere near and told its gona be a while and sent home!

I had a consultant appointment the next morning due to bp issues and possible start of pre e, it was only when oh had mentioned the contractions the day before n said can she examine me,

She checked n I was 4cm! The contractions had near enough stopped over night but I must have been dilating! I was induced anyway due to the bp but they managed to break my waters straight away and my son was born a couple of hours later! x

Yes. I was less than a cm dilated the day before my son was born.

I was not dilated or effaced at my Monday morning appt, I went into labor at 11 pm that night! I will say it was my longest labor (I have 3 kids).

I had an appt at 10:15AM when I was 39 weeks. Dr checked me, I was effacing (as I had been two weeks prior) but not dilated at all. My water broke and I went into labor that evening at 6:40PM and had my little girl in my arms at 11:55PM. With labor, anything can happen :)

I had just been having mild contractions for about twelve hours so I went in to get checked. When they checked me, I was so high and closed that she couldn't even find it! They said they would keep me around, re-check in two hours but most likely it was just false labour. When they checked me two hours later I was 7cm! Lol, happened quick but shows you how quickly things change!

Cervical dilation checks tell you *nothing* apart from where you are at that point in time. They are a snapshot. Women walk around at 3cm for weeks before anything happens, and some women are 1cm one minute and fully dilated three hours later. (This is why cervical checks are not routinely done during pregnancy in many countries. You do not have to have them.) Keep active, rest and eat when you need to. And baby will come when they're ready. ((Hugs))

I have no idea how dilated I was (they don't check it here - because like the PP said, it says nothing about when you'll go into labour). But my daughter wasn't even engaged at all just before I went into labour. That's not unusual for second babies, but she is my first. I also never had an BH as far as I know of. She was born naturally, less than 12 hours from waters breaking/no contractions at all. It can happen anytime and there aren't necessarily 'signs'. I had no idea I was about to have a baby. I felt fine. Everything was normal. I thought I had weeks to go still. So hang in there. And don't get too hung up on the numbers. They don't mean much.

My BFF was completely closed and not effaced at all at 40 weeks, she came home crying from her dr because he said she would need induction. Two days later at midnight her water broke without warning, contractions started, she got to hospital at 1am and baby was born at 5am!!! Very quick labor from start to finish for a first time mom ! There's hope ;)

Thanks for all of the positive stories. I'm still waiting. Hopefully something will happen soon!

Nope. I was 1cm 2 weeks before he came out and 2cm one week before. This was with my first. With my second I think I was 1cm for weeks...

I was half a centimeter the week of my due date and then 1 cm for two more weeks until he came at 42weeks pregnant!

Although I was actually contracting like crazy and my waters had gone I went from 2cms to 10 in less than an hour so it can go fast but I was stuck at 2cms for over 13 hours before it happened labour is a strange old thing x

I don't have any experience as I'm a FTM, but my friend had gone in at I think her 36 week appointment and her baby was breach, so they had discussed possibly having a c-section if baby didn't turn in the next few weeks and she was only dilated to a 1 I think. Well, she went home and her water broke at 2:00 am that night lol.

Thanks ladies. Nice to know it can go quickly once it goes. Still sitting and waiting.....:coffee:
