Hi ladies
Hopefully someone has advice.
Pregnancy was fine with my daughter apart from terrible PGP. Anyway, the labour was awful and i ended up having a third degree tear that was restitched ten days later. As they forgot to check my strep b results until i got a temp of 40 degrees close to her arrival we both had a week of iv antibiotics, my daughter an cxray and lumbar puncture. I also got a DVT.

I am still weak down below and despite physio have very weak pelvic muscles.

I have not had problems with number twos except, i have to go when i have to! no delays. But have had difficulties with my bladder.

I was called to an appointment at the perineal clinic. My MW said i needed a perineal scan and then we could discuss a C Sec.

When i got there they had messed up my appointments and had booked me an appointment with a consultant and not for my scan. Not only this, the consultant was called away and i ended up seeing a perineal nurse.

To be blunt, she basically said, not to worry about my bladder until i have finished with babies as they can operate on me then. If i am not shitting myself then i dont need a C Sec. That was it in a nutshell.

Ahem. She popped her finger in my nether regions and said i have little muscle there but i would have to wait for a scan. This scan is next week. Then i would see a consultant at 35 weeks. Until then i have no clue and i am worried stupid.

I am also concerned because this baby is measuring on the end of the measurement scales for everything already.

We find sex difficult as it makes the area stretch and sore and sometimes bleed. I KNOW i can not force a baby out without tearing again.

When i bought it up at my next MW appointment she just said id have to wait until the scan. But, i am so stressed!

Anyone have any tips? My next appointment isnt till the end of this month and il be 29 weeks.

Thanks.x

hi hun, sorry i have no advice as i am trying to get my date for an elective section after having an emergency scetion with DD in Sept 2010 and even though i am classed as high risk they are still trying to persuade me to have a natural and im terrified that i will end up with having to have another emcs so may aswell save myself the worry and opt for the elective sections and least i know baby cant get distressed etc..

Hope everything works out and you get the section!!

Sorry hun I have to advice other than to keep pushing them for a section

I find it really odd how different hospitals can be, :hugs:

I'm having an elective section on 1st June after a 3rd degree tear having ds I have had no difficulty with my consultant registrar who has been understanding since my initial appointment (when they found a large ovarian cyst which I had to have surgically removed at 14 weeks)
I hope you get your section agreed I only finally decided on mine last week and was given my date during my appointment last Wednesday
Good luck and keep pushing it :hugs:

Thanks ladies.

I will keep on at them. You never know. The scan may go in my favour. Although i am not looking forward to a scope up my butt whilst fully awake!

Good luck ladies:thumbup:

Well you should by rights be entitled to an elective this time due to the horrible experience you had with your first baby and the damage done to your nether regions. I would personally change midwives although I do not know about the NHS maternity as I am in new zealand and we have one midwife right through and during the birth. All I know is if I can get an elective for a first baby without any previous traumatic birth experience then you definetly should although you will need to push for it and really plead your case and explain just how traumatic it would be for you to go through that again as well as compromise the safety of your bubba too because ultimately what the OB and midwives want is a healthy mother and healthy baby so really stress this is what is best for your mental health and wellbeing as well as physical

hope I could help :hugs:
