I've read a lot that you should call your doc or visit the hospital if you notice a decrease in movements. Just wondering if anyone has ever noticed a decrease in movements and actually have something wrong.

Mine seem to come and go (active for a day or two, calm for a day or two). It just seems it's been quite calm for about 5 days now. Still feel the jabs here and there it just doesn't seem as much. I'm 8 months along

If there is less than 10 movements in 2hours ring your care provider asap! 5 days is way too long! I've not had it myself but lots of people have. It can mean many things there's a thread in the main one why its important to be aware of reduced movements. Hope everything is ok.x

I had reduced movements in the last few weeks and was induced at 40 weeks. I knew something was wrong, after 5 days of failed induction as soon as i started having tiny contractions his heart dropped to 50/60 and didnt recover very well.

I had a emergency section, he was tangled in his cord. I know had I gone into labour naturally at home and ignored the reduced movements that Fox would have been in big trouble and i wouldnt have known.

Go get checked out, is it really worth the risk not too?

I had reduced fetal movements for a day and my homebirth midwife sent me to the hospital to be checked. I wasn't actually that worried because I'd been really busy, hadn't eaten much etc and when I mentioned this to the midwife at my GP surgery she told me off about how important it is to get checked out. Her exact words were 'babies slow down before they die' which has put the fear of God into me but I suppose it has been effective as I wouldn't hesitate to go get checked out now.

See i am the opposite Zachary is constantly moving and i am having problems. Yesterday during a Nonstress test they tried to get him to stop moving cause he was all over the place and his heart rate dropped so was sent to the hospital where he registered as fine on the monitors so i was sent home. My second wasnt much of a mover and he was perfectly fine so i dont think it automatically means there is an issue but i would still call your dr. Some babies are just very calm. And by this point movements can slow down too due to lack of room in there.

My second was stillborn. His movements changed as he engaged in early labour, but they didn't stop completely at any point. I always felt small movements as I moved. I didn't realise there was a problem until too late and he'd already died.

There are 11 stillbirths every day in the UK. If you're worried about movements, go get checked out. It's too important to ignore.

My movements have been drastically slowed for two weeks now. Three days into that time, my midwife told me it's not quantity but quality that matters. I expressed concern again to a different midwife a week later, who gave me the NST. He's virtually never moving without stimulus...it takes food or something to get movement. He did not make his kick count at the NST, and what movements he made were in response to juice and the buzzing thing they make noise with. Still, the second midwife told me to always notify them immediately if there's a concern, told me we're fine and sent me home. Well, that's great...but he's NOT making kick count quota and twice they've told me it's irrelevant but come in if he doesn't make the quota! What am I going to do, live there? He's just not doing it anymore. He moves just enough to keep me from panicking and demanding further care. Every now and then I get explosions of movement, or I'd be freaking out. Sorry, didn't mean to rant :(

My midwife also told me to watch out for changes in movement aswell as the lack of. I guess it's just always best to be safe rather than sorry even if we have quiet babies it's not worth the risk. :)

I am always frustrated or concerned about this. I never know how much movement is too much or to little. I am almost 28 weeks and I feel like baby has no pattern. They say you can go by a pattern but my baby seriously has none. How am I supposed to know if she is just sleepy one day or in distress? It's frustrating.

I'm with you on this one! My baby really has no pattern so if our babies suddenly have one that might be classed as a change??? No idea. Lol

Great question! Wow that would scare me too (babies slow before they due comment) My baby def has quiet times and I always freak out. Went in once for NST Justin case, all was well. Piece of mind.

I had reduced fetal movement with my first...went to the hospital, failed the nst several times and was finally scanned..turns out I had oligohydramniodis and my son had IUGR..had an emergency c-section..so I think if you're concerned, best to go in..luckily everything turned out fine for us..but I'm definitely monitoring movements closely this time!

With my first at my 37 week appointment I mentioned to my Dr that he wasn't moving as much, they hooked me up to a fetal monitor and saw some heart palpitations, admitted me and did an emergency C-section that night. Cord was wrapped around his neck twice.

I'm already a worrier, so now I'm an enhanced worrier :p

Is it possible for a baby to move too much?? I have to go in tomorrow for my second NST. I am super worried as last time his heart rate dropped and they tried to slow down movement something i had never seen before. Bit since i have noticed less movements so will be bringing that up for sure now this morning he has been moving up a storm some even tickle from the inside lol

I'm 38 weeks and my baby's movements gave decreased quite a bit. According to the dr everything is fine. At this point I'm just praying hard and hoping e dry thing turns out ok... Always go with your intuition though

I had rfm from 28 weeks ish and gtchecked it regularly. I was always told everything was fine.

My waters broke at 35w and I didn't go into labor and so was induced. My son was born at 35w weighing 1.6kg or 3lb 10. He hadnt grown for a while, a good 5 weeks, and would probably have been stillborn had I just been left. It's a good job my waters broke.
