Evening Ladies,

I had my tonsils taken out on Monday and ive been experiencing a numb tongue at the tip plus at times terrible ear pain. The surgeon warned me that i would get referred ear pain from the tonsillectomy but i'm just wondering if any other ladies who have had theres removed experienced this and how long did it take to get things back to normal.

Any advice would be very gratefully received

I had a tonsillectomy about 4 years ago and I had a few complications, but it got better within 2 weeks. The Dr put me on pain medicine for 2 weeks and told me to stay in bed, not to eat hard foods and to get plenty of fluids. I remember one night I had a hard time breathing and had to go to ER, but they just gave me a steroid shot lol... but if it gets bad, i'd say go to the ER!

I had mine out a few years ago after the specialist realising I had a stage 3 tonsil infection. During surgery they cut my artery, but managed to fix it thankgoodness. Fourteen days later the scab ruptured and I bled out two litres of blood. The numbness of the tip of the tongue is generally because of muscle relaxtion and or left over effects from anaesthetic. As for the ear pain, very common!
