Has anyone had what they were sure was implantation spotting, but wasn't?

I'm sure there have to be some ladies here that have. I had a couple of hours of light spotting at 5DPO and I've never had anything like that before. The only time I ever get spotting is leading up to my period or the tail end of my period. The earliest I've ever had it, it started 3 days before my period but continued until my period came, so I'm really hopeful. I've found all sorts of posts of women who had IB as early as 5DPO but I want to hear stories of women that had this and wasn't pregnant. The hopeful part of me keeps screaming "THIS IS IT!!" but I don't want to let myself get so sure and end up in heartbreak.

You can have implantation bleeding and achieve pregnancy and have a failed implantation. Both can give you implantation bleeding. Just because you dont get pregnant doesnt mean that it wasnt implantation bleeding.

I have had this and wasn't pregnant, it turns out it was late ovulation spotting, hoping this is it for you though hun x

Thank you ladies. star25 and katherinegrey, what dpo were you when you had the spotting and what did it look like?

I'm starting to lose my optimism. Not because your replies or anything though, just not feeling very good about it this month.

Mine started at 5dpo and was very light brown discharge, I have polycystic ovaries though so that could be the reason for my spotting so don't give up hope!
