What "protocol" did you follow? Antibiotics are not effective and I am worrying about my condition worsening. :nope:

they need to switch ur antibiotics asap then as they do not go on there own and can get worse very fast...can move to ur kidneys or cause m/c or preterm labor...so dont wait, if there not working you need to speak to ur doc asap and get new meds...

even if someone here says yes, im a nurse and uti do not clear up on there own and being pregnant with uti is dangerous..

Hi and thank you for your response!

I have been on multiple antibiotics :(. This happened to me last year after trying several kinds and being in the hospital due to developing a kidney infection (which was also hard to treat. In fact doctors told me to consider dialysis because my kidneys were said to be headed towards shutting down.......... at age 27. But thankfully it did clear up... of course everything left yeast infections and poor digestion in its wake, and I developed weird allergies that have since thankfully subsided too).

I have had recurrent utis since I was little. I have asked my primary to refer me to a Urologist but she refused. My insurance is not ideal and I need the reference to see one... I cannot even do a cash pay to see one without losing the insurance (and not much money to spare anyway).

Mehhhh >.<.

OnyxSnowfall I feel your pain, I've had then since I was young too. but justhoping is right, you can't rely on easy methods for a UTI, you do need some medical help with antibiotics x

thi is me too..have you considered that you may have bacterial interstitial cystitis? Its something to discuss and its a chronic condition but if you do find out its what you hAVE THEY will manage you different..

i see a urologist but now im past that and have to see a urologist that only deals with BIC. :(

but honestly nothing clear is up but penicillin or anti biotics so you will have to be on them for a while till it is gone...i would suggest a probiotic to try and keep yeast at bay....

sorry y9our suffering...

also one thing that does help keep infections away is always drink cranberry juice at least twice a day...

Well I suffered from them to and got usis too. Sounds weird but cucumber juice helped after trying several different antibiotics that did not help. I blend 1 whole cucumber to a pulp and drink it. I do it twice a day until it cleared up!

if ur pregnant i would not get of the antibiotics, you need to contact your doctor and yes hop around on a few, if u wish to try the cucumber think go ahead but honestly there is no other medical proof to clear up a uti infection and without treatment you could have a mc or kidney infection so its very worth continue to follow up with it.

Cranberry!

I always take cranberry when I have a UTI and it usually clears up on its own. And its natural so you don't need to worry about effects on baby.

Cranberry juice, lots of water + concerntrated cranberry pills (2x500mg pills every 4 to 6 hours, even the middle of the night). Within a couple of days the pain stops and I continue the regime for 5-7 days just to make sure its cleared.

Hopefully between the antibiotics and the cranberry it will help.

Def take your antibiotics but you can also get D mannose. It is a simple sugar found in cranberries. Most UTIs are caused by E. coli which has fingerlike projections. The D mannose is excreted by your kidneys so once in your urine it binds to the E. coli, making it unable to stick to the bladder wall. Then the bacteria is flushed out when you pee. You can buy it pure.

Also make sure they have done a culture and sensitivity. Maybe the bacteria is resistant to whatever abx you are on.

I take this and cranberry considerate (something called cystex cranberry) and i take the D Mannose powder even with it in the cystex itself. which does help me get less infections but doesnt take away the infection once it hits so while this does seem to help especially with decreasing infections it doesnt quit help in taking away the infections...be in ecoli or other...

if you get alot of infections i would recommend this combination as like i said it helps to keep more infections at bay, but once you do have them....you really do need antibiotic..but continue with this as it can help get it away faster as well.

careful with the D mannose as it is sugar and you need to watch that in pregnancy

Thanks ladies so much. I started taking cranberry, d-mannose and vitamin C and it finally cleared up!!!! :flower::flower::happydance:

Omg I am so happy. :cloud9:

so just incase its best to retest to make sure its really gone...especially when pregnant

Eek yeah you are right, I need to schedule an appointment to make sure I am not getting ahead of myself (been almost a week symptom free since finishing the last round of antibiotics but eek). Ahh I hope I don't need more antibiotics, keflex was hard on the digestive system :dohh:

i8f u where on anti biotics it should be clear but i always get retested :)

When i was young, i would get UTIs ALL the time. My mom always had me drink lots and lots of cranberry juice, i've also read you can take the pills.

They just put me on antibiotics and told me to get cranberry pills and eat yogurt. Sorry the antibiotics aren't working! :(

I used to be prone to UTIs and found drinking a huge amount of water usually got rid of it. Putting a little bicarb of soda in the water helped too but you shouldn't have too much bicarb when pregnant. I'm not saying don't get treated, that may be your best option especially when your pregnant, just saying what worked for me. I tend to avoid antibiotics when I can because I took a lot of them at one time and ended up with health problems from it. I also find avoiding any fizzy, sugary or caffinated drinks is important because they cause irritation. And sugary food and other junk food encourages infection and lowers the immune system so a healthy diet with plenty of fresh food makes a difference.

im sorry but water does not kill the over growth of bacteria from the uti, yes it can help with symptoms by upping it but will not wash a bacterial uti infection away...

Just saying what worked for me several times. An immune system is capable of killing many infections, I guess the water just helps. Not saying not to get treatment, especially when pregnant, but she asked what had worked for others.
