Has anyone used Complan drinks?

For the past few weeks I've had a real problem with food - I don't want to talk about it, think about it, shop for it, cook it, reheat it, hear anyone else talk about it, look at recipes, nothing. Part of it may be the SPD because I'm just grumpy and achy all the time, I don't know. But to me it's becoming a problem because I feel like I'm not getting any real nutrition at all. I don't get sick from eating - it's like I just need someone to put something in front of me and say 'eat this' otherwise I won't go get it myself.

I know you can buy those ready-made Complan drinks and they are safe for pregnancy, was just wondering if anyone has used these before? I've only got about 6 weeks left of this, it will probably go away once LO is here - so if I have to do nutrition-in-a-can for the rest of the pregnancy then that's what I'll have to do.

Only when I was about 5, I was a scrapling and didn't eat so my mum gave them to me to get some meat on my bones.

Their website says you can :)

I'm considering them as I have to have a low GI diet for my GD (if they are compatible that is)

i work as a home carer and a lot of my elderly clients take these and they actually dont taste too bad (except the banana one is gross stay away from that) they taste a bit like slim fast shakes if you have ever tried them.

a lot of the diet nurses that i see with my clients recommend these as an extra to meals for clients that are struggling to get there fully vitamin/mineral intake each day so for a lot of them i cook them their 3 meals a day (some of them have tiny baby portions as they just cant face eating) but i also make up 2 shakes a day for them and the nurses say this gives them everything they need

hope that helps

p.s the coffee flavor is the nicest x

I don't know what that drink is but I've been known to have a protein smoothie now and then when I am not feeling like eating a real meal. That was mostly a first trimester thing for me though. I just didn't want to eat anything then.

I lived off these for about 5days when I got my tongue pierced a few years ago (as i'm a wimp and couldn't stand food in my mouth)
I actually REALLY liked them, they taste like milkshake :) xx

It's kind of like Ensure, I think we had that drink back home? Basically like a Slim Fast shake but not for someone who's trying to lose weight, but for people who need nutrition.

This has totally come out of nowhere 'cause I love food and used to love to cook but now I just don't want to know. I figure if I can force myself to eat a bowl of high-fibre cereal in the morning and have a can or two of this stuff (thanks for the warning about the banana flavour!) then I won't worry as much if I get to the end of the day and all I can muster is eating the lint from my cardigan because I can't get out of bed and down the stairs to eat...

I got some samples of 'similac mom' here in Canada. Specifically for pregnant and nursing mums. Just like ensure meal replacement drinks. I am really struggling to shop/prepare and eat too at the moment. I have a husband and 2 children to feed though so I tend to cook for them and live on bowls of cereal. This thread reminded me of the free samples so I will try one of the shakes today and go buy some if they work. I know how hard it is when your tummy grumbles but you have no desire for food. Fingers crossed its only temporary. X
