Maria finally had her appointment with the child psychologist yesterday about her constant nail biting (which I actually managed to stop with nasty tasting nail stuff before we even got the appointment) and always saying she is scared of something but not being able to tell me what, so the psychologist has suggested she does a few tests with Maria in the summer.

Anyone got any experience with this? What can you learn from the testing?

Purely my guess, I would think they will view the nail biting either as an anxiety thing or habit. But her fear that she can't put into words makes me think anxiety.

They will try to get to the bottom of what she is frightened off then work on over coming it.

It might relate to separation anxiety that happened a long time ago or the issues with her dad. That are deep in her subconscious hence she struggles to put it into words what is frightening her.

I think its anxiety too, hope they can find out the cause.

I was giving a questionnaire asking all about family history of mental health and learning difficulties and about her development and personality as a baby and toddler, looking back she was a really chilled out, happy baby and toddler (except for no sleep) so she definitely has changed in the last couple of years.

I'm sure they will be able to help. And give you ideas on how best to deal with it. Hopefully she will get over it.
