Last night I put a maternity mat down on my bed just in case my waters break (I know, it's extremely unlikely at 35 weeks). Anyway, this was the first time I'd seen one and it looked kind of thin. Could that actually mop up enough waters if they were to go in a big gush?

My mattress is brand new so I'm a little bit paranoid ;)

haha mine is new too, the guy said if my waters break to come back and see him, but i'm not so sure he was serious! lol i got a big pad from ebay, then after my sweep, i put a towel folded over on top of that, under my sheet.........can't really feel it so hope it works!

i guess you could keep a towel nearby and then if it happened the mat would prevent the worst of it and the towel could get any excess. my MIL suggested to me today that I should sit on a towel while driving! apparently someone told her that your waters can really do damage to the seats and corrode the frame!

Mine did!!

And it worked wonders! My waters went and it was MEGA, a massive gush that went on forever. I waited for the worst of it to finish because I knew that mat was under me, and then I jumped off the bed onto a towel. I also had a sanitary towel on "just incase" which did fluff all

If your waters go in bed, it will ruin your mattress unless you get it professionally cleaned the day after. They smell SOOO bad.

Mine were broken while I was in labour - we got through about 6 of the large pads that they put on the bed. Used the entire stock from the delivery suite cupboard lol.
Have you considered buying a waterproof mattress protector? Or covering the mattress with several disposable change pads????
