Has NTNP worked for you?

My OH and I are going to start NTNP this coming month. I'm worried that I won't be able to have the relaxed approach I want. Last time, it took about 10 months to conceive and by that time I felt like my life was consumed with every symptom of ovulation and pregnancy. We are NTNP about 6 months before we would ideally start trying, in hopes that it will happen before we get serious about it.

Were you able to be more relaxed with the NTNP approach?

Hi. So far I am managing to stay somewhat relaxed using NTNP. We were TTC for our first child (took a second pregnancy to get our forever baby) and I was obsessed 24/7. With NTNP I'm having a bit more fun with the process. I had one cycle where I actually took a hpt and got a bfn which I find SO much worse than my period simply arriving. But other than the few days around the time AF is due I don't really worry about it. DH and I have sex when we feel like it....which is a lot...aha ha...

I do keep track of my cycles mainly because I can be irregular and I need to make sure I have tampons and such in stock when I need them but also I just need to know the basic time of when I'm ovulating. I don't pay attention to ovulation signs or tell DH "we need to do it today". In a few months I may feel differently though.

And I'm guessing you're from Canada? Me too! :)

Hi girls :D

I'm also NTNP right now, me and my fiance were supposed to have moved in together by now and start TTC, but he needs to buy a condo first and in Toronto the prices are completely ridiculous (well so they are everywhere in Canada) And he would rather not spend 500K for the kind of condo he wants... so we wait until prices go down :(
So disappointed, I don't know if it's because we don't live togethern or because I want a little baby too much but I really don't like NTNP, it never seems like we are doing it at the right time, or that I have a chance :(
Yeah, so my experience so far has not been that great. And when I do take tests, it crushes me when they are negative.

Thanks for the reply Starry Night! And sorry to hear about the mc. I'm glad to hear you have been able to be more relaxed this time around. I have been keeping track of my cycles too because they are irregular and this way I will have a bit of an idea when I'm ovulating and expecting AF. I know what you mean about a BFN being so much worse than a period showing up. I'm going to try and stay away from the HPTs as much as possible, I spent a fortune on them when ttc my dd.

I think I will try NTNP for awhile and see how it goes. And yes I am a fellow canadian!

Thanks for the reply Miaw, sorry to hear that NTNP hasn't been that great of an experience for you. Hopefully you and your fiance will move in together soon and timing will be better for you!

Thanks Cndgirl :)

I was talking to my fiance and he said we can start and try more, but I was thinking about it and I don't know what more I could do to try more, expect be together at the right times. Maybe I should start temping... I wanted to start trying for a while now but I just never get around to it... I'm very forgetful too, so it will be hard to remember every morning xD

Milaw - I hope things work out for you guys and you can start TTC soon. I was just reading an article on CBC about the condo market in Toronto. Crazy.

Miaw, I started temping when I was trying to conceive my daughter. It was a great way to figure out timing of ovulation, especially if your cycles are irregular and long like mine were. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was the first thing I did every morning and that didn't help with being obsessed with TTC like I was.
