Took two of our children over to Leeds school of music for a workshop day with YYM yesterday and then wandered off into Leeds to look at Maternity clothes. Got to the first shop I'd checked on the internet only to be told oh you have to order online, we no longer stock maternity in store. Found a really helpful lady in M&S who was "experienced in the frustration of maternity shopping in Leeds" and it turns out that other than the small range in Topshop and an "exclusive" boutique in the corn exchange, there is none. Leeds is one of the biggest shoppping centres in the area and no maternity stuff. What a let down.
Anyway, we headed back over to the SOM and sat in the cafe there. the director of music who we have known for years came up to us and said "have you spent all your money then?" to which I replied, "well we would have if they had any maternity clothes in Leeds" and then she replied "Oh are you going to be a granny?"
She was so embarrassed when I said "No I am going to be a mum"

ouch! I don't think that's funny at all!

I'm sure she wished the earth would just open up and swallow her at that moment! I'm sure she is still mortified!

i remember putting my foot init when a lady brought a load of baby clothes all pink and pretty into a sale at the playgroup I worked in. I said "Oh is this one a blue one then?"
She wasn't even pregnant....:dohh:

LOL! Oops! I only made the mistake once, when I was quite young and working in retail, and the shame was so deep that I will never forget it!

That was not very tactful you cant look that old surely? Just because you are not twenty something people expect you to be a granny...hope she had the grace to look mortified and apologised?

Probably even more mortifying for her than for you! Wow talk about a foot in mouth moment...

Ohhhhhhhh thtz not funny at all!!!!..... How embarassing!!!!! Fr both of u!!!!...... After 2 c-sections, i've stilll got my 'flabby' tummy UNFORTUNATELY.......and the mothers at my sons primary school ALWAYS asked if im pregnant!!!!!!........ Now, that I am no-one has asked me!!!......
